Women On Mission met in the church dining room on March 10th with fourteen members attending. The group donated $100.00 toward the Annie Armstrong offering; this year the goal is $3,000.00. Various breads, muffins and cookies are for sale in the dining room on Sunday mornings for donations, all going toward missions. This money goes to the home missionaries that work in the USA and Canada.

The group is collecting much needed items for the Easter baskets to be distributed among the 120 foster children in the county and we will put the baskets together at the April meeting. (We are still in need of about 25 Easter baskets), and any items to fill them as soon as possible to the church. Let’s let these children know they are loved and cared for. If you are available on Monday, April 14th at 6:30 p.m. please attend the WOM meeting and help put the Easter baskets together.

The group is also collecting items to take to the Caruthersville Humane Society in Hayti. They need cat food and dog food and any towels or rags that you have to help keep the animals clean. Items may be left in the dining room and they will be delivered to the shelter.

Pam Peeler led the discussion on the chapter about "Rahab" in the book "A Lineage of Grace" at the March 10th meeting. We just started this study and would love for any of you to come that have not been in a while

* Youth Choir will meet at 4:00 p.m. this Sunday March 30 and the Sanctuary Choir will still meet after church this Sunday evening

2 Extreme Arts

2 Extreme presents "Room 77" on April 27th at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. This musical features the songs of Wayne Watson! It is sure to challenge and inspire you to a deeper walk with Christ. A mysterious ad in the high school paper encouraging students who would just "like to talk to someone" to come to Room 77. This is an exciting musical about friendship evangelism. We will be taking a love offering that night with all proceeds going to the Annie Armstrong Easter offering. Be sure to come and bring your family and friends for a night of great music and ministry.

I love ya’ll! Phil

Special Music: If you would like to be put on the calendar to sing a special in our morning service, please get with me, so I can put you in the rotation. We have a lot of talent in our church and I hope you will share it with us!

Youth News:

You know the old saying "if you don’t like the weather, just wait a day". I think we could make a song out of that old saying! LOL This weather has been crazy and I am glad things are warming up!

Our Winter Jam concert trip we had planned and PAID for to Memphis was canceled due to the bad weather. What I mean is we decided not to take a chance on getting anyone hurt or not being able to get back home with all of our kids and parents. It was just too dangerous. However the SHOW went on without us that Sunday afternoon. I am in conversation with the event coordinators trying to get our funds reimbursed or at least a credit for $900.00 to go toward next year’s concert.

We were very honored to be asked to lead the Sunday morning service on the 16th. The youth were very excited and we practiced a couple of times to get everyone comfortable. We wanted to honor GOD, our church and our church family. We hope you enjoyed the service and got something out of it.

God has blessed us here at First Baptist to have a very talented group of people, young and old. The spirit is strong and the momentum of moving forward in a great way can be seen. If you missed our talent night, IT WAS AMAZING!!! I can feel the move toward REVIVAL in the air and the people.

A few weeks back I gave the kids an assignment. It was for each to make a poster that related to Easter and why we celebrate Easter. The posters will be judged and displayed around the fellowship hall. I will ask some of our church members to be the judges. The posters will represent the events leading up to and involving the death and crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary. These posters will hopefully stimulate the youth’s creative side of their brain; we will see what they come up with. I am sure it will be great and will all be for the glory of God.

On Saturday March 22nd we had our annual senior adult dinner. What started out to be a Valentine’s dinner was canceled due to bad weather. So with everyone sick of the cold, snowy weather we thought "Let’s have a Luau". We did our best to make our senior adults and those who attended to feel as close to being in Hawaii as they could in Caruthersville, MO.! We had a blast decorating, cooking and enjoying the fellowship during all the prep work and the day of getting things ready. Looking at the night from the eyes of the youth and younger members of the church it was very satisfying to see our senior adults having such a good time. Getting "the girls" together and taking group photo’s like Homecoming in high school. The laughter and smiles were worth all the effort put into this night. We gave out door prizes and had fruity drinks with the little umbrellas. Of course Bro. Doug manned and supervised the kitchen and turned out an AWESOME meal. The menu was roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes & gravy, rolls with gravy, green beans with gravy, blackberry cobbler with gravy, apple cobbler with gravy and salad with gravy. LOL WE LIKE GRAVY!! I had several seniors tell me they forgot we were having dinner. So we will make sure to call and remind everyone next year. We love you all and we appreciate the support you show us throughout the year.

As most of you know Carson Constant has been in the hospital in Memphis. After church on the 23rd we took part of our youth group down to see Carson and his family. We had a good visit and took him a big treat basket with beef jerky, coke, candy, cookies and just a bunch of good stuff he likes. Carson had three very cute volunteers come in while we were there. Let’s just say he now knows all of the girls’ names. LOL I don’t know if we’re gonna get him to come home even when he gets well! LOL

As I write this most of the youth are still in bed at 11:30 am and enjoying another week out of school. This year they had winter break and spring break! We may try to do something this week with the youth but that will be in the next edition of the newsletter.

We are taking orders for Easter Crosses through Friday April 4th. They are $10.00 each and we will be putting them out on April 5th and picking them up the week after Easter. Please help support this local mission work through your youth group. If one conversation about the cross in the yard helps bring one person to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, all the effort was worth the work.

We want to thank all of those who come to help with our events and show the love for our youth and our church. We are truly blessed. We will keep teaching your children; about God and how important it is to have God in their lives forever.

With God’s Love,

Chris & Kristy Riggs, Youth pastor

P.R.A.I.S.E. Report

The Children’s P.R.A.I.S.E. Team has been working very hard on the music for our program "The Colors of Easter." We hope to bless everyone on Sunday, April 6, at 6:00 p.m. with something very different. We will present the scriptural story of Easter through painting, singing, and dramatic speaking and readings.

Please make plans to come and invite your family and friends. Remember, this is their way of ministering to the church and the public, as well as learning to spread the Gospel; and we will have a little gift for each of you!

Also, continue to pray for the Children’s P.R.A.I.S.E Team as they continue to grow in the Lord and seek His way.

Praising Him,

Morgan and Vaughn
