A Word From Your Pastor:
Happy, Happy April to you church. The birds are
chirping and my first tulips are appearing in the yard I
believe that Spring time is upon us. April this year is
the most important month on our calendars. Then you
ask why is April so important and it’s obvious isn’t it?
April this year contains “Easter” the most important
holiday for a believer in Jesus Christ.
I know baseball is about to start and for some of you
that is really important but EASTER is far more
special than any sport we Americans can play. Easter
is SALVATION GIVEN TO US. It is a time when
Jesus gave His life for us SINNERS and rose from that
borrowed grave to claim Victory over death. Providing
us with a future with HIM forever.
I know you’re starting to plan your vacations and
getting excited about warmer weather but please don’t
over look this most important time in the life of a
sinner saved by grace. Jesus is our only HOPE in this
dark world we live in. Jesus is the Way to live, He is
the only Truth we can believe in, Jesus provides true
Life in Him when we follow our Lord throughout our
existence here on earth. Easter reminds us once again
of our identity. We are either with HIM or we are not.
Remembering that lukewarm leads to destruction.
Enjoy the Spring weather church and more than that
enjoy JESUS as we celebrate our Savior and King this
month. Susan and I hope the best for you in this
beautiful month of April.
                                                 Your Pastor, Jimmy

EXTREME ARTS:
Instead of doing a full weekend retreat this year, we
will be doing a one- day workshop. This will be on
Saturday, April 27th from 9 AM until 9 PM. We will
serve lunch and dinner at the church. We will be
working on our Spring production which will be the
following day, Sunday, April 28th. On the evening of
April 27th, at 7 PM, we will have a concert from Grace
Proven. This is Jim Clark’s new band. I hope you will
come and join us for the concert and invite everyone
you know to join us as well.
                                                          Thanks,
                                                                          Phil

Easter Choir
The choir has begun working on our Easter musical.
This year we will be presenting Russell Mauldin’s,
“Rise Again”, based on the classic song by Dallas
Holm. It features some classic songs by such artists as
Dallas Holm, Don Francisco and Dottie Rambo. The
choir will present this musical on Easter Sunday
morning, April 21st. If you would like to be a part of
this choir, we still have plenty of books available. We
meet for rehearsal on Wednesday nights after church,
around 7 PM.

Thank You
I wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out
and supported me on my ordination service, on March
24th. Thank you to everyone on the kitchen committee
who prepared that awesome Mexican dinner for my
family and me. We ate way too much! I also wanted to
say thank you to everyone who couldn’t be there but
sent messages of encouragement and support to me. I
am overwhelmed by the love and support of my
church family. Thank you to Bro. Jimmy and the
ordination council for your constant support and
encouragement. I love you all very much!

YOUTH NEWS
Hello everyone! We are currently doing our yearly
cross ministry. We will be placing these in yards on
March 30th. I need the kids at the church at 9 AM. We
will pick them up on April 13th and we will place them
in the church yard until Easter. I love hearing every
year the impact these crosses make. The sole purpose
is being a conversation starter.
We had our senior adult banquet on March 16th. We
had a total of 24 adults and 9 workers. We had a blast!
It was Irish themed, so it was green everywhere. We
had wonderful “Irish” stew and some awesome
desserts. We then had the kids come forward so the
adults can tell them things they didn’t have growing
up that young people can not live without. It was so
funny seeing the shocked looks on their faces. Thank
you to Christy, Pam, and Hope for all their help with
this and everything else they do.
March 17th, we took a total of 12 to Winter Jam in
Southaven, MS. We saw some awesome bands and of
course a wonderful message brought by Zane Black,
who we heard in Branson. He is so good at reaching
the kids. We also received some wonderful material
that we are now utilizing in our Wednesday night
class. We have a couple of kids that are now
sponsoring children through Child Fund International.
They have a monthly sponsorship fee that they will
pay. I love getting to experience seeing these kids
grow into fine young men and women with selfless
hearts.
March 22nd, we had a progressive dinner. We started
at Ray & Marilyn Strawn’s house for many different
appetizers. Then we went to Earl Bullington’s for a
couple different salads. We made out way to Bro.
Jimmy & Susan’s home for our main course which
was lasagna. Bro. Jimmy also did a devotional with
them. Then on to Edna Reno’s where she and Dorothy
Watkins fed us dessert. To say we were stuffed would
be an understatement! We really do appreciate the
willingness of these awesome people to open their
homes to us and to feed us. This was awesome and we
hope to get to do it again!
As we continue through the year, I ask that you
continue to pray for us.
                                                                         God Bless,
                                                     Kristy Riggs

MISSION MOMENTS
Women On Mission, together with 10 guests from
Holland Baptist Church literally “Got Their Green
On” for a spring celebration in the “Very Green”
fellowship hall. Even the punch and some of the food
contributed to the “Green Scene”!
Director, JoAnn Manz, welcomed the guests from
Holland which included their pastor, Bro. John Earl
Dunavant and David Hollified, as well as 3 new
members from our own church, Vicki Gale, Nancy
Barron and Katie Hudson, making a total of 25
present.

Vicki helped with the decorations for the March
event. In fact, she did most of the work! I must say,
she has the “Patience of Job” because I kept changing
my mind about where I wanted things. Thank you
Vicki for all your help!! Following Barbara
Dunavant’s prayer for those on the North American
Mission field and for missionaries with March
birthdays, a short devotional was given on how to
cultivate new relationships with those outside our
church and thereby growing as disciples and mentors
by giving of our time for God’s plan and purpose. A
purse scavenger hunt was held and a prize awarded to
Janice Bell for having the most items called for and to
Heather Ireland of Holland Baptist for producing her
ID with her Irish last name on it. Edna Reno offered a
prayer blessing the food and everyone enjoyed BBQ
donated by Holland Baptist, corned beef spread with
rye bread and a variety of crackers, a green salad
prepared by Edna Reno and “dirt cake”, an
outstanding culinary work of art by our pastor’s wife,
Susan Lemonds. Coffee, water and spring green punch
helped wash down all those goodies.
The group was called into business session and
Barbara Meales, acting secretary read the minutes of
the last gathering. Pat Ferrell, treasurer read the
financial report and Janice Bell gave a report given to
her by Melissa McClain concerning progress on the
“Blessing Box”. Jim Young is busy trying to come up
with a design that will meet all our needs and will get
back to Melissa as soon as he has one.
The Easter memorial tree has been placed in the
front foyer and eggs are being hung with names of
loved ones and friends designated for either a
memorial or an honorarium. You may acquire an egg
with a $5.00 donation. The tree was donated by Paige
Gillock and she decorated the cross tree topper.
Additional boxes for Easter basket items have been
placed in the side entry underneath our bulletin board.
We need more candy and gifts, or monetary donations
to help pay for more of these items. Don’t forget, the
deadline for receipt of these gifts are April 1st. If you
haven’t gotten a list yet, contact Brenda, JoAnn or
Hope.
The Brotherhood donated $250.00 to the Annie
Armstrong Easter offering. Our thanks to that
organization.
Janice Bell, our scrapbook keeper reported that she
is working on that project as Pam Bullington, our
photographer supplies her with pictures of our various
meetings and activities.
Under new business, the ladies discussed possibly
having a silent auction to raise more funds for the
Annie Armstrong Easter offering goal sometime in
April, but no decision was made as to time and date.
Remember, these monetary gifts go to benefit our
North American Missionaries in their work on the
mission field. Please pray and give as the Lord leads
you. There being no further business, the meeting was
closed with prayer. 15 of our ladies attended the
conference hosted by Temple Baptist. We didn’t win
the crown, but a wonderful time was had by all. Our
thanks to Temple for their hospitality! The food was
great, the fellowship and the speaker were wonderful
and the testimony time very moving!! Hopefully we
will have more from our church attend next year!!
Our next WOM meeting will be held April 8 at 6 PM
in the fellowship hall and the theme will be an Eggstra
Special Easter Eggstravaganza completer with a
“Hunt” and a “Scramble” to find the prize egg. Don’t
miss it!!!
“So we do not give up. Our physical body is
becoming older and weaker, but our spirit inside us is
made new everyday.” 2 Cor 4:16
