Notes From Bro. Doug:

The lead word has to be about VBS. We had another successful year. Thanks to Director Pam Peeler and all the helpers.

Church camp was also a success. A few bumps and scrapes here and there but in the words of the kids, "It Was Awesome". Thanks to Marilyn Strawn for leading the kids and caretakers for FBC.

The Church-wide swimming party at the Neptune Club was a huge success. For the first time in years I felt able and comfortable to get in a swim with the kids and no the pool didn’t overflow!!!

The Nominating Committee is in full swing. If you did not get your card returned, please do so ASAP. If you feel God is leading you into a certain ministry, see Bro. Doug.

FAMILY BACK TO SCHOOL BASH NEWS: Emma will lead us during a meeting this Sunday August 2nd at 5:00 pm. This meeting will finalize the plans for our Bash and we will decide what we need to get for this great event on August 9th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

I am asking you all to bring a thank you card, a gift card or a donation for the Thank-You tree we will give to her during the morning worship service. We have enjoyed her service for 3 summers now and this year is her last year.

Don’t forget that each month Dr. Doug Fitzwater and a few church members have a FREE Dr.’s Clinic. This month it will be August 8th from 9:00 am - Noon.

5th Sunday Hymn Sing with Temple Baptist...we are joining Temple Baptist on August 30th for a combined hymn-sing. It will be at our church at 6:00 pm and a combined potluck meal will be at 5:00 pm.

Then another 5th Sunday in the future we will go to Temple for the same reason. Get your voice or instruments ready.

We will have our quarterly church council meeting on August 3rd at 7:00 pm.

A free school backpack to every child that attends.

Common Ground

(FBC’s Praise & Worship Team)

We are currently rehearsing every Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. We are looking for some musicians and singers to help us out a bit, as well as someone who can run a sound board. Please, if you are interested, come join us this Sunday for rehearsal. Recently, we were invited to lead worship at Temple Baptist Church for their revival services. It was truly a blessing to be able to lead their congregation in praises to our God and we hope they will invite us to do so again. If you know of other ministry opportunities that we can help with, please put our name forward. We would love to help.

Special Music:
If you would like to share a special song, skit, poem, etc, please get with Connor Barksdale so she can add you to the calendar.

FBC Sanctuary Choir

(Sunday nights @ 7:00)

As you probably know by now, we have started working on our Christmas musical, "The Christmas Shoes". We can always use more singers and I pray that you will seek God about joining the choir. God gave you talent for a reason and that is to use it for His glory! Come and praise the Lord with us!! We meet Sunday nights at 7:00 pm.

Singing His Praises,

A Note about Creative Sunday

Our Creative Sunday services are every third Sunday. The AM services are more adult oriented featuring special music from our FBC choir, a mixture of hymns and classic songs and multi-media "attention getters". The PM service is more youth and young adult oriented featuring our fine arts team, Extreme Arts and our praise and worship team, Common Ground. I have some big ideas for this service, but cannot post them yet as I am still hammering out all the details. It is my prayer that these services will be up-lifting and challenging to us all in our daily Christian walk. Our next Creative Sunday will be August 16th and I really hope you will all be there to worship with us!

Extreme Arts:

God has given me a new vision for our fine arts team this is burning in me even as I type this. I will be going over the details with Bro. Doug as soon as I can put them all down on paper. In our last music committee meeting, I asked for prayer in the ideas that have just all of a sudden come flowing into my head. Here I am slapping myself thinking, "Why didn’t I this of this before?" I do believe; however, that God moves in His timing and has opened doors that would allow these changes to take place even now. I really hope that as I reveal the things that I believe God has shown me that you will also be excited and will want to be a part of it all. Our first meeting is August 16th, so be on the lookout for some upcoming announcements.

Youth News:

Well, the summer is coming to an end and school is about to start!! We have had such a great summer, with church camp, revival, VBS, etc. I want to thank all of the ones involved (in any way) that made all of these events a success. We are especially thankful for the support from our church.

On Sunday July 26th, we had our monthly birthday party at McDonald’s in Hayti. This party covered the months of May, June and July. We always love getting to go out and eat somewhere!

On Wednesday July 29th, we are going to the Discovery Park in Union City to have some great fellowship time with each other! We are very excited and I will report in next’s month’s newsletter the outcome of this trip.

As many of you know, the youth group takes care of honoring our veterans and servicemen and women by putting the flags out around town at our memorial parks and monuments. This is one of our favorite missions to go on and it ensures that no one forgets how great of a country we live in and the sacrifices that are constantly being made for us. It gives the youth a sense of pride and the understanding of being patriotic!

We have been working out of our class books and really enjoying the Wednesday night "Radical" services that Miss Emma Fitzwater hosts. Emma does a wonderful job of teaching that Bible study!

We love our youth and our church. We will continue to serve the Lord and continue to help your child grow in the Lord!

In Christ’s Love

Chris & Kristy,

Youth pastor
