Extreme Arts & FBC Worship Choir:

Extreme Arts starts back this month on August 14th!

We will begin by preparing for out boot camp which will happen on September 16th - 17th back again at Mrs. Jean’s cabin at Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee. We will also begin working on our Christmas stuff. I think we all enjoyed being a part of that celebration the past two years and will be an even bigger part this year. I don’t want to tell you what we’re doing yet, but I think you will have a lot of fun with it. We have a very good sized group this year, and I’m very excited about that. As you are all aware, Connor and Ashley will no longer be performing with us, but they will still be a vital part of our ministry. Connor as my assistant and Ashley as our helper. I am so thankful for their willingness to stay and help out. All our materials for boot camp are here and the shirts are on the way! I can’t wait to see what God will do through our ministry this year.

Love Ya’ll

Thank You:

I would like to thank everyone who prayed, called, sent cards and brought food during my recovery from foot surgery, it lifted my spirits and was greatly appreciated!

Youth News:

Hello everyone. We ended the month of June with our VBS titled Submerged. That was an awesome week! I’m so proud of the youth. We worked so hard on decorations. Then we had a few that were very faithful in helping that week. Their witness for Jesus was so apparent that week as they helped lead and guide the younger ones.

The month of August we will start a 4 week study on Sunday nights called "Staying Strong". Our study will focus on how to speak helpful words, how to stay focused on God’s promises, how we tackle tough situations and how to go about talking about our faith. We will also focus on how to become more of a LIFE group–(L-Learn) applying Biblical truth for everyday living. ( I-Invite) welcoming others to our fellowship. (F- Fellowship) nurturing Christ centered caring relationships. (E-Evangelism) combining evangelism, teaching and nurturing to impact our world for Christ.

Our fellowship time at the Mercer’s was temporarily postponed. We will get a new date very soon. Our annual back to school swim party at Wayne and Karen Smith’s home on August 14th is still on. We will go over there about 4 and swim until 7. If anyone needs a ride, please let me know.

We had a youth committee meeting on Sunday, July 24th at 7 pm in the fellowship hall. This was a short meeting to discuss upcoming events. If you would like to help with the youth in any way, please let me know.

It’s that time again...tiger football and our 5th quarters. Our first one will be August 26th. We will meet in the fellowship hall as soon as the game is over (around 9 pm) and go until 11 pm. This is a wonderful outreach program so we can get to know kids that may not have a church home. This is a time for fellowship, games, food, music and testimonies. We will have a total of 4 - 5th quarter parties. The rest of the dates are 9-12-16, 9-23-16 and 10-14-16. We usually have several youth that show up, so if anyone would like to help, please come see me. We could use a lot of help, especially men.

In light of recent events, I would like to encourage our youth and our congregation. Please remember during times like these, hold on to His love. Love for our church family but most importantly love for our Savior. Hold on to His Word. We will continue on, reaping His harvest. "For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever. So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever." 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

I would like to personally thank the church body for allowing me to continue on in this position. Please keep praying for us as we go forward and with all of our upcoming activities. We will miss Bro. Doug & Peggy. They were huge supporters of the youth. We will pray for them as God guides them in the next step of their lives.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs

FBC Worship Choir

Choir resumes on August 3rd! Can’t wait to see you all again. We will begin officially working on our Christmas musical, "He Is Here". As you are all aware, we have lost some pretty powerful voices, but I know God will send us singers and continue to lead us on. Please join me in prayer over this. Pray that God will raise up a desire in people to sing praises to Him with us in the choir. There is something awesome and special that happens when we sing praises together. Psalm 22:3 tells us that God

inhabits the praises of His people. It is so true. There is strength in our praise. There is power in our connection with God in our musical worship. No wonder that the most repeated command in all of scripture is to SING!!! We will continue. We will be faithful. We will believe that God will send what and who we need to continue to honor and glorify Him through our songs!

Singing His Praises,
