FIRST BAPTIST BEACON

801 Ward Ave.
Caruthersville, Missouri 63830

Brother Don Layman will serve as our Pulpit Associate
Minister until after the first of the year when a committee
will be selected to search for a pastor.

´╗┐Bro. Don says,
Here it is the month of December, three years after I wrote an
article for the monthly newsletter as I served the church as
Pulpit Supply while the church was searching for a Pastor.
I want to say thank you for asking me to serve the Church in
that capacity again. It is a trying time for a church in the
absence of a Pastor, but that happens from time to time. God
is probably preparing just the right person for your next pastor
as we pray for His WILL to be done. I am encouraged as I see
members stepping up to take up the slack and I sense a great
Spirit present.
CHRISTMAS begins with CHRIST and we must tell others
that “JESUS is the Reason for the Season”. I am amazed that a
lost person can remain lost, as everywhere we go, they are
playing Christmas songs that tells the story about the birth of
a Saviour. It is my desire and prayer, that at First Baptist, I
can bring words of comfort, encouragement and hope as you
search for your next Pastor. There was NO ROOM in the Inn
at Bethlehem for JESUS, and I am thrilled that everyone
reading this note, either has already, or can make room for
The Saviour.
                                                                   Merry CHRISTmas,
                                                                   Bro. Don Layman

MISSION MOMENTS
Winter is finally here! Our Women On Mission
meeting for November was canceled due to weather
conditions and our next meeting will be on December
9 at 6:00 pm in the church fellowship hall. The theme
will be announced later. There was a lot going on
church-wide in November so another meeting time for
that month was not set. The remaining bags for
Southgate were finished and delivered. The Blessing
Box is constantly needing a refill so lets not forget this
important ministry. The pantry can always use more
items and the list is in every bulletin. Our goal for the
Lottie Moon Christmas offering has been set at
$5,500.00 and the Week of Prayer for International
Missions is December 1 - 8th. Posters, prayer
pamphlets and envelopes will be in place Sunday,
December 1st. We should already be praying for this
important mission offering.
Women on Mission will sponsor a bake sale for the
Merry Mart on parade day, December 7. Please have
your baked goods at the church that morning before
the parade. All proceeds from the Merry Mart will go
toward the Lottie Moon goal. The ladies will also
sponsor a soup and sandwich luncheon with desserts
following church on December 8. Proceeds from the
luncheon will also go toward the Lottie Moon goal.
Another Lottie Moon project, votive candles in
memory or in honor of loved ones will be placed in the
church windows for a donation of $25.00.
Remember to thank God for the Gift of His Son,
The Reason for This Wonderful Christmas Season!
God Bless you all and we wish you a CHRIST filled
time of Celebration!!
                                                  Jo Ann and Hope

YOUTH NEWS
Our Youth are collecting blankets to give them out
at the Christmas parade to anyone who needs one. The
Youth will be ringing the bell at Hays on December 20
for the Salvation Army. The Youth will be attending
the Xtreme Conference December 27- 29 in Branson.
Thank you to everyone who helped in coloring a
turkey on the tablecloth sponsored by our youth. Earl
Bullington was the highest bidder of $100.00, the
money was donated to the Lottie Moon offering.
Thank you to everyone for all that you do for our
youth.
                           Joel Williams and Elizabeth Hardesty

THANK YOU!
Dear Church Family,
Words can’t express how much all of you are
appreciated. We have a large family and you all did
such a great job preparing a lovely meal and serving
our family. Please continue to pray for us as we try to
navigate without him.
