Notes From Bro. Doug:

WOW! Much change is going on at FBC. Some good, some not so good. The bad part about discord and drama in the church is the fallout of people who get fed up with drama and leave the church discouraged and never return to the Lord’s house for years.

I am trying my best with the ability that God has given me to keep things together, to keep things going to keep my head above water too!

Let’s continue our striving and straining to keep FBC a light into the community, a light for Jesus, a light for the Kingdom, a light for the lost!

We have two leadership positions that opened up last month, our GA leader, April Davis, resigned her position and the nominating committee will meet soon to find a replacement. Our youth director, Dana Constant, resigned her position. The youth committee is in full swing taking up the task and a committee will be started soon to find a new youth director. Let’s pray for our youth group.

Dear Family, Please know that if I do not wave at you as I am driving, it is not because I don’t want to wave at you. My vision is not the best in the world anymore and I usually have many things on my mind. So feel free to come talk to me personally if I do not wave at you. Also, if I do not shake your hand on Sunday morning or go throughout the congregation shaking hands it’s not because I don’t want to shake your hand, it’s usually because I am working on the power point additions that someone gave me at the last minute or talking or counseling with the many who come into my office before and during Sunday School. I love that time because I seem to be able to help people with concerns then. Also certain health issues and getting too hot before I preach plays a role in that too! So feel free to come directly to me if you have a concern about me not shaking your hand. You will find me and my wife ready to shake your hand as you leave after the worship service, you might even get a hug, from PEGGY! :)

Success in a church depends on the church members, you decide the direction, you decide the effectiveness, you decide the spirit of the church, you decide if a church will die or thrive, you decide who feels welcome at FBC. As your pastor, I am a tool at your disposal. I can give leadership, direction, a vision and help get you there if people are willing to follow. Both of us must be led by the spirit and we both must follow the example of Jesus. Great things can happen at FBC, great things have happened. Let’s work, pray and unify for greater things that God has planned.

In Christ,

Bro. Doug

A Memorial given in memory of Martha Correll; given by: Jane Betz and Bebe Betz Pinkley

Thank you to Gary and the choir for the Christmas gift. I appreciate your thoughtfulness more than you could know. Thank you to the "secret santa" who leaves a gift at the organ the past several Christmases. It is so sweet and means so much to me. I have played either the piano or organ for more years than I care to mention and like anything else you do for a long time, I do get discouraged at times. Each time I play it follows lots of thought, practice and prayer that through my music someone’s thoughts will be brought to the one who gave me this talent.

Movie Night

Jan. 29th "Courageous" this is for all ages

Youth 30 Hour Famine

The youth are collecting donations to fight hunger. They will be participating in a 30 hour famine on February 11th . It will start on Saturday morning with a breakfast from the Brotherhood. They will be doing various things during the 30 hours all planned by our youth council. They will stop the fasting after church on the 12th and enjoy a great meal by the WOM group. Pray for them as they do this great event to help those in need.

Constant News:

Ironically, this will be the last "Constant News"....I have decided to resign as Youth Director. There have been many changes in my family over the past few months and I must put them first. Morgan graduated from ASU and moved to St. Louis in December. I have needed to go visit with her on a couple of occasions and couldn’t because of my responsibilities to the church. I don’t feel comfortable asking for help when it is my responsibility. Also, Trey has taken a job that travels on the weekend occasionally and I am unable to go if I keep this position. I stepped in to help in a time of need, but now it is time to find a young person that can give our youth the attention they deserve.

On that note, they have been busy this winter. We had a 50's Diner style lunch in January. We made burgers, fries and milkshakes for lunch after church and we had a blast. We all got together and made it so much fun. The kids did all the work dressed in their 50's attire. We looked at old pictures and took new ones in front of the "jukebox". What a great way to have fun and make money at the same time.

They have a few things on the horizon, so please keep them in your prayers. I know that God has just the right person in line to take this position. Let’s all be in prayer that that person will come soon and ready to serve.
