Bro. Don Says:

We are enjoying some good times & good Christian Fellowship here at 1st Baptist. Our people seem to be excited, even though our Sunday School attendance is not as good as it should be & can be. Hebrews 10:25 says; Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another. We are encouraged by our preaching attendance and the great Christian attitude. We enjoyed a great day, when we had Baptist Men’s Day, and I want to thank everyone who participated.

I want to thank Bro. Phil for making our services available to anyone in the world, that is able to connect to the Internet. If you, or anyone that your know, that might be interested in our services, you/they can tune in if they can get YouTube, by going to YouTube and type in First Baptist Church, Caruthersville, MO. There are several of our services that are available, and maybe more to follow. It’s just another way to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we hope to see some positive results, and someone might even get SAVED.

2017 is well on its way, and we are thinking that things are going good, because God is in Control. JESUS said "YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN", by receiving HIM as SAVIOUR.

Yours in Christ!

Bro. Don Layman

FBC Worship Team

I’m excited to welcome our two new members to the worship team, Caitlin Pate and Logan Ford. Our little group is growing and I am so grateful for that. We had a chance to minister through special music on January 22nd during the evening service, and I thought they did a wonderful job. Please pray that God would continue to add and pray and ask God if you may even be able to be a part. We would love to have you join us! We are just starting to work on our Easter selection, "Risen Redemption", which will be incorporated into our Easter Sunday morning worship service. It’s our prayer that this will be a blessing and will open up your hearts to the powerful message that we will be presented that morning. Be sure to bring the whole family as we celebrate the passion and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Phil

Extreme Arts :

Extreme Arts has started rehearsing again, and I’m excited about all the things God is going to continue to do through our group. Make sure you come to our Sunday evening services, as the group will be taking a bigger part in those services. It’s my prayer that we can be a blessing and ministry to our church as well as our community. We will begin working on our Spring program in February, which is called, "Alive in Me"! If you would like to be a part, we always have openings. If you would like to help in anyway, please let me know. We always need help with things like the set, lights, props, coaching, etc.

Tuesday Night Bible Club: Our Tuesday night Bible Club has resumed and we have lots of room for you to be a part of our weekly Bible study. We are doing a study of the 5 Books of Moses, the Pentateuch, beginning with Genesis. We meet every Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall. If you like a topical approach to Bible study with a more in-depth and thought provoking format, then this is the Bible study group for you. There’s just something about God’s people meeting together and studying the Word of God that brings a closeness to God and each other. Come join us this Tuesday!

Women On Mission:

Thanks to Louie Franks, we have enough material to make plenty of scarves for the Christmas parade this year. When we gear back up in March, Louie will come and give us a lesson on "how to" so that we can get started on this project. Hopefully you are busy packing your Christmas child box for the month of January.

We are eagerly anticipating the call of a pastor for our church. Please make this a matter of prayer. The devil likes nothing better than to get in the mix of things and cause strife, confusion, resentment, hard feelings, bitterness and anything else that we take our eyes off of praying for a pastor. Lets not give him ANY victory of this process. God has a man for us and we must pray for him and direction in this most important calling of God. A special thanks to Bro. Don for leading us these past few months, he has much wisdom that he has shared with us and we certainly appreciate him giving us God’s word each Sunday.

Annie Armstrong offering will be coming up, our goal will be $3,000.00. Please give generously.

If you have any suggestions for WOM, please join us in our endeavor to make 1st Baptist a church with an outward focus, as Jesus wanted.

Pam & Christy

Youth News:

What a wonderful thing that some of the area youth groups, including ours, did on Jan. 15th, as they participated in the Pascola Project sponsored by the Association. This project has been in the works for months and was designed to get out into the community of Pascola and let them know that they have a church right there in their area that is ready to love on them, but more importantly, to show them the love of Jesus. We split into groups and went out armed with new light bulbs, batteries for smoke alarms and also smoke alarms, if they needed them. But we also had the opportunity to speak to people, to pray with them for their needs and to invite them to church. The majority of these kids did not know this area or the people in it. It didn’t matter to them. They stepped up as leaders and went out (with adults in tow), door to door. Then we went back to the Pascola Baptist Church and was lead in an awesome worship service by The Dills from Jackson, TN. Bro. Kim Bridges from Marmaduke, AR delivered a powerful message. It was absolutely an awesome day and I could not have been more proud of the youth, but especially ours! Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest fields." Matthew 9:37-38

Some upcoming dates to remember: Feb. 4th, we are going to try to go see the movie, "The Resurrection of Gavin Stone" in Kennett. We will go to the matinee, but I don’t have the exact time yet. For all youth going to camp, I need to know by Feb. 8th, I have our second deposit due by the 15th. Feb. 24th, we will leave as soon as school is out and travel to Cape to go to the Rock and Worship Roadshow. Youth will need $10.00 to get in and money for eating.

Please continue to pray for us & these upcoming events.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs
