A Word From Your Pastor:

Snow and Ice. Slippery when wet. Be careful out there it’s winter time folks. February is here! Time goes by so fast it seems these days. Fella’s don’t forget your Valentine again this year. Get her something very nice and she will love you for it.

I have been challenging everyone to speak out about Jesus to those in your inner-circle at work or with your family and friends. I will continue to challenge everyone as the Lord challenges me. Building the Lord’s Kingdom here on earth is our top priority in life. It’s not just the preacher’s job it is all of our jobs to spread the good news of Jesus to all around us.

We are blessed to have such a great church family here at FBC C’ville. I pray that you thank Jesus daily for all of HIS blessings that He provides to us. Our Father which art in Heaven loves to hear from us every single day of our lives! It’s personal and we serve a personal Lord who cares and loves us like no other.

Really as we think of Valentines Day this year we should realize that Jesus is our Ultimate Valentine! He loves us beyond measure unconditionally. So with this being a fact of life. What will we give HIM on this day of LOVE? Hopefully we will give HIM our heart and our lives at all times.

In Christ,

Your Pastor

Women On Mission:

Our WOM is looking to gear back up in the month of February. We are looking forward to many new projects this year. We generally meet on a Monday night, but if this night is a hindrance to you, let me know and we can look at another day of the week. I would like to reflect on the sermon that Bro. Jimmy preached this last Sunday. "God can use anybody". Jesus selected ordinary men when choosing the 12. They were not religiously trained or religious leaders. Rather uneducated and unknown. But, they were all called for a purpose and that was to Send Out His message and this resulted in ministry and missions. That is our purpose here on this earth is to Go and Tell. How much going and telling are we doing? As for me, not near enough or no where near what God would have me do. This should be our goal here at First Baptist, GO AND TELL, CALL AND TELL, WALK AND TELL, VISIT AND TELL. Lets strive to not be an inward focused church, but far reaching outside our walls. What can we do, Pray fervently for our church, leaders, pastor and all others that have a position in our church. I think if we do this, we will see a positive change in FBC. Don’t forget to get your in Honor of, or in Memory of lights, for the Tree of Hope. Also, if you want to help purchase banners to grace the side of the baptistry, put your donation in and mark it WOM banner, and who it is for.

Extreme Arts

We have started working on our Spring Musical called, "A Distant Thunder". It is based on the classic movie of the same name. It is a musical set in the time of the Great Tribulation and features music by artists such as Hillsong United, NF, Larry Norman, and Crowder. If you are in 7th grade through 12th grade and would like to be a part of this production and all the other things Extreme Arts will be doing this year, come to rehearsal on Sunday at 4:00 pm. We meet in the choir room and would love to have you be a part of this important ministry.

FBC Worship Choir

The choir is growing! I was so excited to see the great turn out on our first Sunday back for the new year! We are getting ready for Easter with a great musical called, "Rise Again". It is based on the classic Dallas Holm song of the same name, and it features some other great music from artists such as Dallas Holm, Sandi Patty and Dottie Rambo, I can’t wait to start working on this exciting production! I hope you will be a part of it. If you would like to be a part of our choir, just show up on Wednesday night after church. Come join us as we lift up praises to the only One worthy, our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Help Wanted!

I need people to help run sound and multimedia for services and different events. If you are interested, please get with Phil Barksdale, so you can be put on our list. Don’t worry, we will train you and help you to make sure you’re ready to go before we ask you to do this on your own.

First Baptist,

Thank you all for your prayers, cards & concerns for "Louie" & our families thru these past few months. She appreciated and loved you all.

To Bro. Jimmy for your calls, visits and comforting words, the kitchen crew and those who provided a meal, the music providers (Renee, Phil and Erin), thank you for helping us get thru the day.

"Louie" loved the Lord and is now at peace in heaven.

God bless each and everyone of you.

Ronnie Franks,

The Mejia, Strawn & Pruitt families

Youth News:

Happy February everyone! We are starting out the month working on a 4 week series on stress. We will be discussing things like dealing with an anxious heart and handling stress by trusting God’s promises.

February 10th, we will have our senior adult Valentine banquet. So please come enjoy this night with good food, fellowship, door prizes and much more. This is just another way we would like to show our appreciation for what you guys do for us and this church.

March 3rd, we will be going to Winter Jam in Memphis. We will be purchasing VIP tickets, so if you would like to purchase with our group, let me know soon please. Tickets are $35 and I’m trying to get them ordered by the end of this week.

Now on to a big topic right now, church camp. The kids have decided to go back to the week camp at Crossings. Camp has gone up a little this year. I have checked around with other youth camps and they are all about the same price. And since they love Crossing so much, we have decided to stick with what we know. I enjoy sitting in the youth room listening to the kids reminiscing about past years. Makes my heart smile. A big part of camp is the fellowship and building lifelong friendships with people they meet there. With that being said, we have made the decision that the kids will pay half the cost of camp, which is a little more than we have had them pay in the past. We will do a couple of fund raisers to help with the rest. They HAVE to participate in the fund raisers. We do this to help the families out so they are not responsible for the full price of camp. The first deposit will be $75.00 which is due February 25th.

We will start our cross ministry close to the end of February. We will be putting them out on March 10th. We will collect them and put them in the church yard on March 24th. They will remain there until after Easter.

April 23rd, we have a paint party planned, i will give more details at a later date, but I’m very excited for this. Everyone including kids will be welcomed. We will start selling tickets the first part of April.

As you can see, we have a lot going on. Please be in prayer for us as we go through all of our activities. Also, please continue to pray for us as we are still in the planning stages of the judgement house. This is something the kids are very passionate about doing.

God bless,

Kristy Riggs
