Notes From Bro. Doug:

I am encouraged about the direction of First Baptist Church and the ministries we all are working hard on. So many people are working hard and praying hard. Let’s thank God for His many blessings. He is blessing us so greatly with spiritual growth and with the excitement of seeing our kids and youth grow in the Lord.

Thank you to all who prayed and gave to help our youth go to summer camp at Jonathan Creek, KY.

It always is a great time and they grow so much.

This VBS is going to be a great event this year. Pray for all the teachers and leaders and our coordinator, Pam Peeler, as they study, work and teach.

Please pray for our country as we get ready to celebrate our nation’s birthday. We desperately need to pray, pray that our leaders will seek God’s will.

The staff and leaders at First Baptist Church are here to help and pray for you if needed. Do you want to know how to pray for the church and what’s going on at FBC? Be here when the doors are open, you will be blessed.

Bro. Doug

Vacation Bible School Team:

READY, SET, GO!!!!

We are ready for an awesome week of VBS. Digging deep, Jesus Knows, Jesus Sees, Jesus Saves. Because He loves us and gave His life for us, we have value and worth.

Please pray for VBS workers and children. We are prayer walking around the church, fellowship hall and children’s building immediately after morning services on the 26th. Please be a part of this great evangelistic event.

The impact you’ll have is determined by how available you are. Live outside the BOX!

 FBC Worship Choir

We are currently on a break for Summer. With all the vacations, camps, VBS events and so on, I just figured it would be better just to go on a break instead of wondering where everyone is over the next couple of months. I was going to end the break in July, but have decided to extend it, for the same reasons until the first Wednesday in August, which is August 3rd. I think we will repeat this pattern every year, just as we do in Extreme Arts. So enjoy your Summer and I will see you all on August 3rd to begin working on Christmas stuff!!

Singing His Praises,

Phil

Extreme Arts & FBC Worship Choir:

Well, we are still on break!! I do have some news, though. I have received our music that we will be working on for Christmas. I have also ordered the materials that we will be using for our retreat this year. In next month’s newsletter, I will post some dates for all our Fall activities. Have a great

Summer!

Love Ya’ll

Phil

Youth News:

Hello everyone! On June 12th we took a group of 6 boys, 6 girls and 3 chaperones to Crossings Church Camp at Jonathan Creek, KY. We had an absolutely blessed week. They were like sponges. We all learned so much! The theme this year was "Identity". They learned the crisis, challenge, change and commission of their identity, this really connected with the kids. One lesson was on idolatry. One kid said to me they were surprised what was considered an idol. They thought it was just people we idolize but they found out it’s whatever they behold more than a relationship with Jesus. This includes their phones, social media, their friendships, etc. We had some awesome connect and checkpoint times. These are times that we come together as a group and have Bible study time. Then Sara wrote an extra Bible study for just us girls to do before bedtime. We didn’t get them all done , but I appreciate her doing that. I think the girls enjoyed it also. I want to challenge them to remember what they learned and go out and be disciples for Jesus Christ. I want to thank Sara Riggs and Kendall Staggs for going as chaperones. Also, thank you to our church family for just supporting us, but also the ones that gave money and bought snacks. We really do appreciate it. I can’t say enough about this camp. I promise they presented the gospel throughout the day, even in the fun stuff. Also, i will tell you what big hearts for missions that they have. Our group of 15 collected a missions offering of almost $400.00! The total collected for the whole camp of 800 was $8500. This money will be shared with the IMB for missionaries going to the unreached in Cuba.

We have been hard at work on helping with decorations for VBS. They look awesome. We have some very talented kids. And also we have several that have volunteered to help. I appreciate their willingness to help.

We have some upcoming dates that I want to tell you about. On July 17th at 6:00 pm, we will go to Bill & Christy Mercer’s for some fellowship. Thank you to them for agreeing to host us. We will take the church van there and when we get done around 8:00 pm, I will take everyone home. Then on August 14th, we will have our annual back to school swim party at Wayne & Karen Smith’s house. I will let you know a time when we decide.

Thank you for praying for us and I ask you to continue as we go forward with all our lessons and activities. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of their lives. They always put a smile on my face.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs

Kids Missions:

We are really looking forward to VBS this year. It sounds like it’s going to be a blast. The kids always have such a good time, the adults too. It’s a great time of year and hopefully a lot of seeds will be planted. After VBS we’ll continue with our outdoor fun as long as the weather lets us.

Keep praying for us!

Thanks,

Paige Gillock
