Notes From Bro. Doug:

We will start a new bible study called Radical by David Platt on June 3rd at 7:00 pm. Our summer intern, Emma Fitzwater, will be leading this Bible study for 6-8 weeks. Be in prayer for her as she prepares and make plans to be faithful in attendance on Wednesday nights.

The Memorial Harvest Day festivities were a huge success with our children’s choir closing out the day in a wonderful way. Our offering goal was $3,000.00 and we met that goal. Thanks for your generous giving.

We are gearing up for Vacation Bible School on July 13th - 17th. We will have our next meeting this Sunday, May 31st at noon (NO meal). If you have questions or would be willing to help with VBS this year, see Pam Peeler before or after the meeting. We will have a finalizing meeting on June 14th at noon (NO meal).

Pray for our youth during the week of June 7th - 12th. They will be at Jonathan Creek youth camp in KY. This always proves to be a huge spiritual boost for our youth and youth leaders. The campers will be in charge of the Sunday evening service on June 14th at 6:00 pm. This will be an afterglow service, and they will express what camp meant to them and give us a glimpse as to what God did that week in camp.

On Wednesday night May 20th we had a wonderful potluck meal that was hosted by Karla Hedge and Hope Bynum. We want to thank them for a wonderful job and thank everyone who helped them clean up. The next potluck is June 10th and will be hosted by Amanda Maclin.

CHURCH WORK DAY is Saturday June 13th at 9:00 am. There will be various jobs available, but the primary focus will be on the two rooms in the children’s building. Bring your willingness to follow and serve.

Sunday June 21st is Father’s Day and Gideon’s day. The fathers will be honored and given a gift, then Lloyd Block will be bringing the Gideon Sermon. A love offering for the Gideon Bible Ministry will be taken up that day.

Everyone is welcome to come to the shower this Saturday from 2-4 pm in the fellowship hall which is given by family and friends of Jenna Sasso and Josh Boyd. Jenna will be there and Josh will be near. You are also welcome to come to the Wedding on June 20th at 1:00 pm. It will be at Union Ave. Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.

Pray for Sarah Jo Grissom and Trent Sanders as they get ready for their wedding on June 27th at 6:00 pm, everyone is welcome to come. Bro. Doug

Extreme Arts

FBC Youth Fine Arts Team

We will be on break until August 16th. When we reconvene, we will begin working on a Christmas project with the Adult Choir. This project will also include the children’s choir. It is called, "The Christmas Shoes", and I am very excited about this project! Also, in September we will have our weekend retreat to Reelfoot. I know you’re gonna dig that!! I truly hope you will all return (and bring people with you) in the Fall.

Remember, God gave you talent for a reason and that is to use it for His glory!

Common Ground

(FBC’s Praise & Worship Team)

We will begin rehearsals again on Sunday May 24th at 4:00 pm in the chapel. After that we will meet every Sunday at 4:00 pm until further notice. I want to work up some of the old stuff that we have done, but I also want to introduce a few new songs, well new to us! LOL! I will also have open auditions that same Sunday May 24th for anyone who would like to be a part of our group. I invite you to come and audition. As I said in another post, God gave you talent for a reason and that is to use for His glory!

Tuesday Night Bible Club

Our Tuesday night Bible Club meets, you guessed it, every Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at the parsonage. We have just finished a study in the book of Acts and are now moving on to a comparative study of the end times through Daniel and Revelation. This should be a lot of fun, plus an eye-opening study. I will do my best, as usual, to start arguments and try to give you the best materials I can find to really open up some, I hope, great discussions. Come be a part of our Bible study group. We can have our lives transformed by the renewing of our minds through the studying of God’s Word.

Special Music:
If you would like to share a special song, skit, poem, etc, please get with Connor Barksdale so she can add you to the calendar.

Youth News:

Well, it’s that time of the year that all the youth are excited about: SUMMER! They’re out of school and looking to do fun activities, and that’s just what we’re up to! We put flags out for Memorial Day at different memorial parks, recreational parks, churches, police and fire stations as well as some homes to honor a loved one in their family who sacrificed either their time or their life to serving in the Armed Forces. To those, thank you for your service! I, as well as so many others are blessed to live in a country where we have the freedom to do so many things, thanks to you all! God Bless America!

As Memorial Day has passed, we’ve gotten geared up to go to the Crossings church camp at Jonathan Creek, KY, June 7-12! This camp has always been such a fun and spiritually enhancing experience for our youth and we are expecting no less this year! To the parents of the youth, make sure that your child has everything ready to be packed that they need to survive...an actual Bible being one of them! If you have questions about what to bring, refer back to your sheets that you got from the meeting, or contact Kristy Riggs. She has plenty of copies. I ask that everyone will continually pray for several things: the youth and the counselors as they prepare to go over to camp and that their hearts would be open to the Holy Spirit moving in them; the staffers and the executive workers of the camps in both properties that Crossings own (one in Jonathan Creek as well as one in Cedarmore, KY) and that God would give them all the strength and the will to continue to go strong throughout all the weeks of camp this summer (because it’s a really hard, but rewarding job), and lastly, pray for everyone else that will be there this summer before and after us and that they would also have wonderful turnouts spiritually and to also have a great time!

We all thank the church so much for the continual support that you show to us! The youth are very thankful to be involved in such a supportive group of people.

Also, I thank you for praying for me as I have been sick. Please continue those prayers!

That’s all for now! See you next month!

In Christ’s Love

Chris & Kristy,

Youth pastor
