Notes From Bro. Doug:

A huge thanks goes to everyone who supported & helped make this Revival a huge success. The music was awesome, Bro. Jim Clark is a talented man of God. Bro. Joe Wright was very inspirational. He is so loving & meek and fun to be with. God knew what He was doing when He called Bro. Joe into the ministry. The kitchen committee out did themselves again as usual and had plenty of food for your guest and family members.

What if we took this time of being revived and used it to get things done for the Kingdom of God.

What if we took our eyes off our self and our family and focus on Jesus.

What if Jesus’ church came first before ball games, TV, trips, time off, recreation, playoffs, toys, games, sleep, work and money.

What if Jesus asks you one day, "What did you do for me?" what will you tell Him?

Folks, this Christian stuff is doable, church growth is doable. Living for and with Jesus is doable. Let’s keep encouraging each other and live for Jesus.

Women On Mission

WOM had a great meeting this month with many ideas discussed. We had a very successful luncheon with over $450.00 raised for the outside Nativity set to be purchased by our WOM. Special thanks to all that helped in any way. If you would like to do a memorial or in honor of someone for this project, please make sure your donation is marked for that. We appreciate any and all donations.

Our next meeting will be May 9th, 2016 at 6:30 pm. In the fellowship hall, please come and be a part of the WOM.

Sometimes the greatest spiritual practice is just showing up. Where does God want you to show up today? Our church has many activities, what are you missing out on? You won’t know until you show up and become a part of what God has in store for you.

Vacation Bible School Team:

The VBS Team is getting pumped up for VBS in June. After attending a VBS clinic I for one am very excited. Our yearly VBS is the number one Evangelistic Event of the year. Many children hear about Jesus because of the effort First Baptist puts forth to bring VBS to our community. Please make a commitment to start praying for the VBS team and most importantly the children that will walk through our doors for one special week. If you will make a commitment to start praying, please let me know. I’m making a list of our prayer warriors so that I will know who to contact when there is a special need. Also, if you would like to be a part of this exciting event, please let me know. We have a spot for you. It takes a team to bring it all together, it should not be all on just a few. God will be working and I’m sure you will want to be a part of the VBS team. Be a part of the SUBMERGE team, you will surely be blessed.....

 FBC Worship Choir

In the worship choir, we are preparing for two events coming up in May, Memorial Day and Harvest in May Day.

Since the announcement was made to do the "Old Fashioned Sunday" theme again, we are working on some great Southern Gospel material that I think will knock your socks off! I can’t wait to have them sing these songs for you.

It’s real easy to join the choir; just show up Wednesday night after church! Remember: God gave you talent for a use for His Glory!!

Singing His Praises,

Cross ministry & Witness materials are on top of the sanctuary organ.

Extreme Arts & FBC Worship Choir:

Last Sunday night, we presented, "An Extreme Review", and I wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out and supported that, as well as the group for working so hard to put that together. We have gained some new members near the end of this school year, but are also losing a couple. Connor and Ashley are going to be graduating from the group this year and will be helping in some behind the scenes stuff. Thanks, you two, for being so faithful through the years. You were part of the original group back when we were still just called the FBC Youth Choir and have stayed faithful and dependable through all the changes. I am so proud and relieved that you have both agreed to help out, even if you’re no longer in the group itself.

Also, this is the last month of the school season, so after May’s Creative Sunday service, Extreme Arts will be on hiatus until August 14th, when we will begin working with our new group. To say thanks to the students for all their hard work this year, we will be having a picnic and fun day on May 14th. We are going to Cape Girardeau to go on a hike and have our picnic and will also be going to visit with former member, Sara Riggs, who has promised to give us a mini-tour of the campus at SEMO. We will leave about 9:00 am and will be back late that evening around 8:30 pm.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped with so many things this season. Thanks to Bro. Doug for allowing us the opportunity to minister and for all the help along the way...especially with the food! Thanks to Vicky DeReign for all the help throughout the year with dialogue and advice. Also, thank you to Chris and Kristy Riggs for all your help this year. I just have to say that I don’t know what I would have done without Kristy’s help. From the retreat, to the Lock-in, I truly appreciate the heart you have for these youth and for this church.

Also to Hope Bynum, Pam Bullington, Peggy Boyd, and Chris and Angie Peeler for always coming through in the nick of time to help with various things. I am so grateful to this church for all the love and support you have shown this group, my children, and myself over the years. Thanks for putting up with our loud music and craziness. Thank you, parents for your patience with our crazy schedules and events and for allowing me to lead your children. They are a blessing and a joy to work with. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your direction and your gift of life. We are nothing without You!!

Youth News:

Hello Everyone! We started the month off with finishing our 3rd spiritual discipline on prayer. This was challenging for all of us that no matter how busy our lives are, we have to discipline ourselves to slow the pace to spend time with God. They were also given a sheet that had an application exercise on it. Listed was 7 points to help them with their prayer life.

On April 9th, we took a small group to see the movie "God’s Not Dead 2". We absolutely loved it. I wish we could have taken a bigger group but there is just so much going on. We again thank Paige Gillock for getting us the movie passes.

We are in preparation for the 30 Hour Famine. By now, the youth have gotten a packet with all the information; such as what to bring and permission slips. We are starting at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 29th. We have a lot of games, tribal games, videos, etc. planned. We will also be out Saturday doing community service. We will be following a young man named Ekai from Kenya. We will see how he spends his day and what he has to go through to get food, water, etc. we also have a special guest that will come speak with them. I do pray that they are transformed after this weekend.

We are also preparing for church camp at Jonathan Creek, KY. They should have received their letter by now to remind them about the 2nd deposit and how to get registered. It will be here before we know it. We have a camp meeting scheduled for May 25th at 8:00 pm.

On May 1st, we will have Senior Sunday. We have 5 that are walking that day; Jessica Bullington, Caroline Fitzwater, Trever Winchester, Madison Gillock, and Summer Rushing. We do wish them the best. We will be praying that they allow God to guide them with what’s next to come in their lives.

I want to thank the many members of our church family that have given me encouragement lately. It means so much to me. I ask that you continue to pray for me and the youth with our upcoming events. Also, please encourage your youth to be faithful in their attendance. Thank you for sharing your kids with me. I can always count on them to make me laugh and smile during our times together.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs

Children’s Mission:

The Children’s missions group has really been growing! It’s getting closer to the end of the school year and we can definitely tell it. We will be doing more activities on the back lot, depending on the weather of course. We would love for your little ones up to 4th grade to join us every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
