Common Ground

(FBC’s Praise & Worship Team)

We are currently rehearsing every Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. We are excited to be invited by Jim Tom Pilcher to come and lead the worship at Temple Baptist Church’s revival services from June 25th - 27th. We still have room for more musicians. If you are interested in being a part of our group, just show up this Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. We are in dire need of a bass player and guitar player. We are praying earnestly for Chris Riggs, that he will be able to come back and play drums for us again, but until that time, Sara has taken over those duties for her dad and is doing an awesome job! It truly amazes me at how much talent she has as well as her willingness to use that talent for the glory of God! Thanks so much, Sara for stepping up and helping us as much as you are able to help. We are also looking for a 3rd vocalist, as Connor will be stepping down from the group after the revival at Temple Baptist. If you can help fill any of these spots, please come to rehearsal and talk to me.

Special Music: If you would like to share a special song, skit, poem, etc, please get with Connor Barksdale so she can add you to the calendar.

Tuesday Night Bible Club

Our Tuesday night Bible Club meets, you guessed it, every Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at the parsonage. We have just finished a study in the book of Acts and are now moving on to a comparative study of the end times through Daniel and Revelation. This should be a lot of fun, plus an eye-opening study. I will do my best, as usual, to start arguments and try to give you the best materials I can find to really open up some, I hope, great discussions. Come be a part of our Bible study group. We can have our lives transformed by the renewing of our minds through the studying of God’s Word.

FBC Sanctuary Choir

For now we have decided to put our project, "Bind Us Together" on hold for a while. After much prayer and consideration, I just don’t feel that it is the right project for us at this time. Instead, we have bugun working on our Christmas program. For this year’s project, we will be doing the musical, "The Christmas Shoes", which is based on the song by the group, Newsong. I really think this year’s musical will be a special gift to you from our choir. As usual, we will follow the program with a night of fun, food and fellowship with a potluck favorite Christmas appetizers and desserts fellowship. More about that as we get closer to the end of the year! Can you believe we are already half way through this new year? We are also working on som special music to present at the majority of our Creative Sunday Services in the AM part of the service. We can always use more singers and I pray that you will seek God about joining the choir. God gave you talent for a reason and that is to use it for His glory! Come and praise the Lord with us!! We meet Sunday nights at 7:00 pm

Singing His Praises,

Women On Mission

Youth News:

"Hello again everyone" I know that we just reported a couple of weeks ago, but we’ve had even more events happen since last time! Our biggest event, though, was our Youth group’s trip to the Crossing Church Camp in Jonathan Creek, KY! The youth always have such a fantastic time there, and they learn so much about the Lord and how to draw closer to Him and this year they learned another valuable aspect of being a true follower of Christ: Proclaiming the Gospel to our communities, nation and around the world! In this week of camp, we had one of our students give their life to Christ and that student is Darnell Rodgers (or as most people call him, "snoop") he is such a wonderful young man and we are so proud of his decision to follow Christ! Praise God!!

We also had our Afterglow service on Sunday, June 14 and it was wonderful! The kids sang and danced to songs that they love and learned at camp, we watched a picture slideshow to get a glimpse of what camp was like and they also gave testimonies about what they learned during their week there.

Thank you to Kristy Riggs, Hope Bynum and Kendall Staggs (friend of my daughter, Sara) for going as counselors for our church and thank you to the church for wanting to send these children over to such a wonderful camp! As Kristy said at the Afterglow service, Crossings isn’t just considered a "camp" because they are year-round, not just during the summer. They send out materials to youth leaders and have their camps open to have retreats and other events and that just brings more people to grow in the Lord! We invest in this camp because this camp is an investment in these kids and adult leaders’ lives because of how much the staffers that work there pour into the students and the adults’ lives and make a lasting impression on them. Thank you all again and we’ll see you next time!

In Christ’s Love

Chris & Kristy,

Youth pastor
