Bro. Don Says:

Thanks for your participation in the revival. Here are excerpts from Bro. Phil Glisson’s e-mail. Don, it sure was a blessing to be with you in revival. Tell the people I am grateful for the financial blessings and for all their words of encouragement. First Baptist Church has a great future. God Bless you, Bro. Phil Glisson.

As we approach this Thanksgiving season, I pray that you and I will know just how thankful that we should be. Thank God for the wonderful blessings that only an almighty God can provide. Thank Jesus for salvation, that was provided by His precious shed blood on Calvary. Thank God’s Holy Spirit that is our Comforter, Teacher, & Guide. We can have and be what we should have & what we should be, when we follow His leadership.

Thank God for the military personal that He has used to make America a great and free nation.

Give Him Thanks,
Bro. Don Layman

FBC Worship Choir

The choir is working on our Christmas musical, "He Is Here", which will be presented during our morning worship service, on December 18th. We could use your help! If you would like to be a part of our Christmas presentation, please come to the next choir rehearsal, which is every Wednesday night after church. I have plenty of practice CD’s and books available. Please continue to pray for our choir and our church, and pray as to whether God wants you to be a part of this wonderful ministry. Remember: God gave you a talent for a reason, and this is to use it for His glory!

Singing His Praises,

Advent Booklet:

Some of you remember when we did an advent booklet. We will be doing this again this year. We all have memories, thoughts about the meaning of Christmas, or a favorite scripture or hymn. Don’t worry about spelling or grammar. We can edit it. Just let your thoughts come from the heart. Please get it in by November 15th, so we have time to get it ready.

Women On Mission:

WOM had a very successful soup & sandwich luncheon raising almost $400.00 for our Lottie Moon offering. Thanks to all who supported and especially helped cook and serve. We met in the month of October and discussed several on going projects. One being our Samaritan Boxes and the Christmas Merry Mart. Our Merry Mart will be held on December 3, 2016 from 10 - 2. If you have any items to donate to this fund raiser, please bring it to the church or call and I will pick up. This is one of the largest fund raisers we have for Lottie Moon. Being low in number this year, we will need to raise all that we can. Also, if you would help set up the week before that would be great. I will announce time and dates at a later date. We will also need bake goods for the bake sale. Don’t forget to bring Samaritan boxes and the $7.00 to cover the mailing cost. So far we have 4 banners to display this year during our Christmas season. If you would like to purchase a banner in memory or honor of someone, Christy or I can tell you how, or do it for you. I am diligently going to try and have the new Nativity set up by Thanksgiving night and lit. if you can help, let me know.

I shared with the church last Sunday about an opportunity to serve on the mission field from June 26 - July 9. I can’t give any details about the trip due to high security, no pictures, no announcement on social media, or church bulletin. All I can say is it’s a 22 hour flight and the trip is expensive. I was asked by the Arkansas Baptist Association to go on this trip. If you would like to help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. Without your help, I can’t go. Serving has the power and influence that we often wish our opinions had. Jesus not only influenced people with his thoughts and opinions, but also with the way He served.
