Notes From Bro. Doug:
We had a great month in September. Our Bible study with the "Courageous" movie went very well. 9 men signed the Resolution.

Dana Constant is doing a wonderful job with our youth. Pray for them as they go to the youth retreat this month.

Transfer day went well. All new committee members are encouraged to jump in & work for the Lord.

The Beth Moore simulcast was a great experience. Our multi-media system did a great job. We want to thank Chris Woodall of Woodall Wireless for getting it ready. We also want to thank Susan Pinkerton for coordinating the great event.

The church elected Nathan Pinkerton and Chris Riggs as new deacons. They will both be ordained on October 16th.

I will be in revival at Desloge Baptist Church this week. Please pray for me as I preach, sing & play the trumpet.

Mission Moments:

The Women On Mission met Monday, September 19, 2011 in the church fellowship hall. The theme for the meeting was "Baby Steps." During the meeting, we discussed many new ideas to get more women involved in our group. I will begin sending invitations and reminders before each meeting. Our hope is that more women will join us and become involved in this important ministry. We will once again be getting supplies ready for the Samaritans’ Purse Christmas boxes. This year we will provide the boxes and ask that members provided the "treasures" inside the box. Our mission and youth groups will put the boxes together along with a personalized message for each. A list of supplies for the boxes will be available on the Mission bulletin board. Please grab one and help with this very important ministry!

We provided cookies for the Associational Training held in Poplar Bluff on September 23rd. JoAnn taught a break out session that day. Poinsettias are being sold by the women and the members of the Mission Trip Committee. All proceeds will go toward the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. The cost is $15.00. The mums will be delivered and ready for pick up Wednesday, September 28th after 4:00 pm.

I am so excited that Margaret Nash will be undertaking the decorating of the fellowship hall. She is very excited and I’m sure we will all enjoy her hard work! Barbara Pullam is continuing to decorate the sanctuary. She is planning to use the beautiful mums indoors and out!

Our next meeting will be October 10th at 6:00 pm. Refreshments will be provided by Diane Mathis, Pat Ferrell, and Lillian Boyd. Please continue to pray for our mission group that we many grow and flourish this year!!

From the Pastor:

When you know of a church member going into the hospital and need a visit or a prayer from the pastor or a deacon, please call the pastor or the church office.

I know that hospital visits and nursing home visits are a weakness of my ministry, so I am going to try to do better in this area. But I need family members’ help and your help to do my job better.

Constant News:

Wow!! What a busy month for the First Baptist Youth group!! In early September, out own Josh Boyd invited us over to the Baptist Student Union on the Dyersburg Campus for a lock in with his group and other youth groups in the area. We took 8 kids to the lock-in. We played board games, video games, heard a wonderful sermon, played "capture the flag" at 2:00 a.m., and ATE!! Bro. Doug and Peggy came and made the world famous homemade pizzas!! Everyone stayed up ALL NIGHT!! (yes, including me). Sleep is really overrated!!
We have been studying from the "KNOWN" serious about who Jesus is to all of us, PERSONALLY. It's a wonderful curriculum. During one lesson we were discussing the "Trinity" and delved into the Holy Spirit. It's truly a hard concept to grasp, but those kids are so clever. Simply put, they decided it's that little voice you hear that tells you right from wrong and we all need to focus on listening. Later, Emma said she had been listening and thought that she was being called into the Youth Ministry!! Our church has influenced so many young people into the ministry. We should all be proud and keep planting those seeds.
Sunday night, we ate pizza from Pizza Heaven and then had dessert provided by Mrs. JoAnn's left over cookies. They were
On October 9, the Youth group will be in charge of the P.M. service. Please come and support them.
October 21-22, we will be traveling to Van Buren for the annual youth retreat hosted by Living Stone. The band that Dylan is a part of will be playing that weekend and we will be there to support him and represent our church.
Please be sure and encourage these young folks. They are pulled in so many directions. We really need to pull together for them.
Thank you so much for allowing me to serve...

                                                                                                                 Dana Constant

Thanks to my church family for the red maple and the plaque given in my honor.
