A Word From Your Pastor:

October is upon us! What a Glorious time of year this is for us. I love the fall of the year as temps and leaves change as a new season comes to us promised by our King. October is special for Susan and I. Susan has a Birthday on the 10th where I try to surprise her every year with little success. The heat of the summer is leaving us and a welcome change comes every year.

October for our church is packed full of activities for all to enjoy. I am looking forward to our Revival the 7th thru the 10th with Jack Young coming to bring us the Word this year. This year is a very special year for FBC in October as we Ordain our Music Leader, Phil Barksdale into the Gospel Ministry. Phil will be Pastor of Music on the 27th of October and I pray we all come out to support him in this important chapter in his life.

Get the jackets out of the closets folks for we are going into the fall of the year with Great Expectations for FBC as we move forward in the Lord’s Work. I Love You and hope this fall brings us many blessings.

Your Pastor, Jimmy

Thank you to the Women on Mission and all the ladies who made cookies and delivered them to the fire department for 9-11. They were very much appreciated. Thank you for remembering us.

Christmas Choir

The Christmas Choir meets Wednesday nights after church. It’s not too late for you to join us! We are working on our Christmas Musical, "The Bells of Christmas", which we will present on December 23rd at 6:00 pm. Come and join us as we lift our voices in praise to the King of Kings!

Singing His Praises,

HELP Needed

Volunteers needed to help with sound and multi-media. NO experience needed; I will train you to use all equipment. Please get with me if you can help with this important ministry in the church.

If you would like to be put on the calendar for special music, please see Bro. Phil. Share your talents with the church for the glory of God!

September was a big busy month for Extreme Arts as we had our retreat and took charge of the evening service on September 9th. We did a couple of skits and some music. We are currently working on 2 Extreme: The Musical which is scheduled for November 11th, but we may have to move that back a bit. I will have more information on that in the next newsletter. To our members, please try to do your best to be at every rehearsal, as we try to put this musical together. Also, we’ll be looking at a few things to do for our Christmas Extravaganza this year, which will be on December 23rd, after the FBC Christmas Choir’s musical. Once again, I’m asking for help from our congregation to prepare some Christmas desserts, candies, and finger foods for that fellowship. Once again, more details next month.

Women On Mission

Women on Mission will be partnering with our youth group to host a "Soup lunch" of Sunday, October 28, right after the morning worship. We will have a variety of soups and Bill and Snoop will be in charge of the grilled cheese sandwiches. Donations will be accepted and shared between the Lottie Moon Christmas offering for international missions and the youth group’s Youth Conference in Branson in December. Mark your calendars and plan to join us.

Operation Christmas Child season is here! There are boxes in the foyer next to the fellowship hall and brochures for how to pack a box if you need a little help, if you would just rather donate instead of making one, we could certainly use donations toward the cost of mailing. Each box costs $9 to mail. We need all boxes turned in no later that Sunday, November 11. Drop week is November 12-19 and the drop site is the Church of God. These boxes bring blessings to so many children and it is a wonderful ministry.

A quick end note of thanks to all who brought cookies for our annual 9-11 cookie drop for our police/fire and first responders. It is important that we show our support and keep praying for these men and women who help keep us safe.

God Bless,

November - Paige Gillock

December - Kathryn & Terry Waldrop

Hello Everyone! We had to reschedule the senior lunch delivery for a previous engagement on the calendar. We will reschedule, hopefully very soon.

Thank you so much to everyone that placed orders for our fund raiser! This money will go towards going to Branson for the Winter Xtreme Conference. Then whatever money we have left from our fund raisers will go towards camp next year. A big thank you to Pam Bullington for handling this fund raiser and getting everything ordered!

On the subject of the conference, the next important date is October 15th. Parents, please make sure your kids can go because I have to have a $50 deposit per person and our room assignment turned in by this date. The conference is December 27 - 29. If we pay and they don’t get to go, we lose that money.

We will attend a judgment house at the First Baptist Church in Miner, MO sometime this month. I don’t have a date yet because they haven’t been booking yet. More than likely it will be on a Sunday night. This takes some time to go through, then we will probably stop and get food on the way home. Then I will make sure everyone gets home.

Our youth led service is October 14th. We can not wait to lead the service and we pray you will receive a blessing from it.

We will partner with the WOM for a soup lunch on October 28th. The kids will need to be there the entire time. We will be serving and cleaning up afterwards. I will make sure anyone that needs a ride, gets home afterwards.

Please continue to pray for us as we go through all of our activities.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs
