A Word From Your Pastor:
Happy October to you all! Another month has flown by
and hopefully fall is soon upon us with cooler weather and
autumn colors. October is Susan’s birthday month. My
lovely wife will be having a birthday on the 10th. I believe
she is 28 again. She has been the absolute best blessing
to me that the Lord has provided throughout my life.
Susan wears several hats at church but also in the home
and our family. She is priceless to me and our family.
I hope and pray that we have a Great October as a
church and grow in the Lord Spiritually as that is HIS goal
for us. I introduced a new idea at the church lately and I
hope we will take it seriously in this coming year. Who is
Your ONE? I am challenging you to pick someone in your
life that does not know or have a relationship with our
Lord, I have asked you to begin praying for this person
daily and preparing to share your faith with them and your
testimony. My challenge to you is to continue this
throughout the year never giving up and always dropping
thoughts to them each time you see them. This is called
evangelism and it’s what our Lord has told us to do
throughout the new testament. I hope you take this very
seriously and begin the process of evangelism to your
ONE. Just think if these people come to know the Lord
and start coming to our fellowship. We double in size and
start all over again. If this was to work in two years we
would be at 400 in attendance. Please do NOT be a
skeptic in this process we have a God who does Big things
all around us every day and in the past.
Enjoy your fall season and Shelby’s Cardinals. Choose
your ONE and let’s begin to have a devoted life toward
growing God’s Kingdom here in Caruthersville.

7 members and one guest met on September 19 in the
church fellowship hall. The theme for the evening was,
“Are You The Missing Piece in The Missions Puzzle?”  A
drawing was held and the missing piece found by Janice
Bell who was awarded a prize of “Pumpkin Spice” sachets.
A guest, Mrs. Washington, was given a small gift. A short
devotional on, “What it means to be the missing piece in
the missions puzzle” was given by Jo Ann Manz. The
mission spotlight was directed at Ken and Kathy Woods,
missionaries to Australia. Shirley Figgins offered the
prayer for missionaries and blessed the food. Some
Australian “eats” were sampled and the group enjoyed
delicious ham and cheese sliders made by Edna Reno.
Nancy Barron’s Anzac Biscuits (Australia’s Biscottis)
were a big hit. Thank you, Nancy! During the business
session, the success of the recent ice cream social was a
topic of interest. Christy Mercer chaired that event. We
also talked about the upcoming, Billy Crocker Bake-Off”
was September 29th at 5 PM in the church fellowship hall.
Prizes were awarded. Christy Mercer was chairperson for
this event too. Barbara Meales brought bibs she has made
for the nursing home residents and promised more to
come. She has the pattern, if anyone else would like to
make some. She is also making drawstring bags for the
nursing home residents as well as Samaritan Purse boxes.
They are great for holding marbles or jacks or other small
Several items under new business were brought up but
since there was not a quorum, they were tabled until the
October 14 meeting. The theme of that meeting will be,
“Enduring Difficult Days” and the mission spotlight will
be on John Mark Toby and wife, Cathy in Kentucky. He is
the Director of Missions there. Hope you will join us. We
will also have a surprise, “Guest” as our speaker.

We would like to send a special thanks again to Pat
Ferrell for making a special donation to the youth for us to
go bowling on the 22nd. We are trying to get a few more
fund raisers together to help with the trip we are planning
to go  this December to Branson. It will be a great time for
the youth to experience God. We are planning on doing a
white bean and cornbread supper at 5 pm on October 26th.
We are working on also trying to get a car wash together
again and will be selling baked items again. If anyone
would be interested in baking something you can holler at
me or Elizabeth after we get the date set for the car wash.
We will announce this in church when we get more details
figured out. Also, we know a couple of people have talked
about wanting to do the progressive dinner again. If there
is anyone that would be interested in being a host home
just let us know and when we can get enough  we will
work with those people to try to get a date set for this also.
I know October is kind of full but first of November might
work out better. Again, we appreciate all the love and
support everyone is showing the youth department.

Thank you to the Women On Mission ladies of
First Baptist for the cookies on 9-11, also to everyone
who helped with the First Responders Appreciation
meal held at the American Legion September 16.
