A Word From Your Pastor:

He is Risen, He is Risen! The absolute best time of the year for the Believer in Jesus Christ. Easter is our Very, Bestest Most Valuable Day of the year. I understand Bestest isn’t a word but I just made it up for this special occasion. Easter is our celebration of true LIFE that is given to us by the CROSS at Calvary.

Hell bound and Hell bent was where we were before Jesus. Heaven bound and Eternal Life from now on and forever more. Jesus provided the Way for He is the WAY, the TRUTH, the LIFE and without Him we are nothing. Without LIVING for HIM daily and always is a complete waste of His time and our time. His time is our time so how are we spending His time that He is giving us.

Jesus is the LIFE so my exploring different options is a COMPLETE waste of His time that He is giving me. What does Jesus want me to focus on? What does Jesus want me to spend my time doing? What does my schedule look like, is Jesus the focal point of everything I do? Jesus demands my full attention and anything less is not pleasing to Him.

Wow, I’m not really living for Him should be my conclusion on these thoughts. What do you and I need to change? We have no excuse (Romans 1). He commands total commitment and you and I are giving him the left overs. Seconds and minutes instead of ALL of our time and dedication. The Bible says to repent and turn from our wicked ways. So why aren’t we doing that? The human condition even after conversion and being born again is pitiful.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and busting out of that cold cruel tomb and giving me Eternal Life even though I didn’t deserve it and can’t work for it. Your Amazing Grace on me is priceless and I could never work that price off somehow!! Your blood covers me and my sin for now and forever. Thank You.

Thank Jesus this Easter season for a gift you can never repay!!

In Christ,

Your Pastor

Women On Mission:

Many thanks to those that filled Easter Baskets for the county foster children and to those that generously donated funds to help fill baskets. 144 baskets was delivered to the DFS for distribution to the children. WOM was responsible for filling over 50 of these baskets. Your donations were greatly appreciated. I want to keep reminding you about Samaritan Purse boxes to fill through the year. You will find all the boxes you need on the table in the foyer. Please consider filling as many as you can. Clean up in and around the church is continuing. The church grounds and inside are really shaping up and looking much nicer. Thanks to everyone who has diligently helped in this task. I won’t mention names for fear of leaving someone out, but you know who you are and you are greatly appreciated.

WOM will be meeting on April 9, at 6:30 in the fellowship hall. Please consider joining us in our endeavor to keep Missions an important part of FBC.

As we plan for Easter this Sunday, may we focus on the importance of communicating Easter and the true meaning to our children and loved ones. Bunnies and eggs are cute, but Jesus and the cross are what the true meaning of Easter is all about, and this should be first communicated to our children. Christ blessings to you and yours.

Extreme Arts

We are doing a variety show similar to Saturday Night Live, complete with a special guest host, musical guest, and live and recorded sketches. We hope you’ll come out on April 29th at 6:00 pm for a fun-filled night of music, drama, comedy and ministry.

Also, this production will be the last production of the season for Extreme Arts. After this we will be on break until August. Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the season and to all the members who made it such a great year!

National Day of Remembrance Service

The United States Congress established the Days of Remembrance as the nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust. Each year state and local governments, military bases, workplaces, schools, religious organizations and civic centers host observances and remembrance activities for their communities. These events can occur during the Week of Remembrance, which runs from the Sunday before Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) through the following Sunday.

The internationally recognized date for Holocaust Remembrance Day corresponds to the 27th day of Nisan on the Hebrew calendar. It marks the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. In Hebrew, Holocaust Remembrance Day is called Yom Hashoah. When the actual dates of Yom Hashoah falls on a Friday, the state of Israel observes Yom Hashoah on the preceding Thursday. When it falls on a Sunday, Yom Hashoah is observed on the following Monday.

This year, Yom Hashoah will fall on Thursday, April 12, so we will observe our commemoration on Sunday, April 8th at 6:00 pm in the Memorial Chapel. There will also be an exhibit in the 5th - 6th grade classroom depicting the history of the Holocaust. I hope you will come and join us as we remember the more than 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust and raise your voice with us in our promise of, "Never Again"!

Youth News:

Hello everyone! We have completed our cross fundraiser. Thank you to everyone for your support. This ministry is not just about raising money to go to camp, but for opportunities to tell someone about Jesus. I had someone come tell me a wonderful story recently about that.

Thank you to Paige for getting us tickets to go see the movie, "I Can Only Imagine". I have seen it already and I can not wait to take the youth to see it. With their busy schedules we haven’t come up with a date to go yet but hopefully soon.

We are doing a paint party fundraiser on April 23rd at 6:30. I know this is the same date as the health screening. I don’t think this will interfere but if so we will just get in one of the classrooms and do it. We will start selling tickets soon. I have to have a number to give these people a week before this date. Tickets will be $35.00. Everyone, including children are welcomed. You will have a choice between two wooden canvases to paint. This should be a really fun night so please come join us.

It was so good to get caught up with Roger Palmer during revival. It really got the kids even more excited about going to camp because he will be our preacher during that week. Camp is coming up rapidly, so we are gearing up for that. If anyone has any questions, please come see me.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of this youth group.

God bless,

Kristy Riggs

VBS TEAM:

We are hard at work planning for our 2018 Vacation Bible School! The theme this year is "Game On", and I believe it’s going to be a big hit!!

The first day will be June 17th and that will be here before we know it!

The teachers have their class materials and the kitchen crew is already getting their game plan together. We could still use some help, though. We’re looking for a couple of class helpers. Please help us make this a great VBS.

April 16th, we will be getting together to go to Jonesboro for the VBS training session. We’ll be taking the church van and my van if needed. Come join us and get your VBS GAME ON!!
