Notes From Bro. Doug:

We had many great events and services going on in November and many great events and services coming up in December. I hope you will take time to participate. Participation is the key to spiritual growth. We have so many great ways for you and your family to grow in Christ. We are here and ready to minister, help and lead. But you must take advantage of what has been prepared, prayed over and planned for you and your family. I hope to see more involvement from our church members in the near future.

Thanks to all who came out and supported the Christmas Missions kick-off. Missions is our mandate from the Lord Himself. We are to Go, Pray and Give.

Be much in prayer about your involvement in our mission endeavors here at FBC.

We started the Advent Season on Sunday, November 27th with Kevin & Ashlea Riggs lighting our first Advent candle, if your family is interested in lighting an Advent candle, see me A.S.A.P.

Thanks to everyone for your support of the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. 100% of the money raised will go to our IMB missionaries. By supporting the bake sale & meals you are helping reach our goal of $10,000.00 this year.

On Sunday morning December 18th Bro. Gary and the choir will lead our service during the morning service and during the evening service our Children’s Christmas play will be presented. Hope to see everyone there!

                                                                                                                          In Christ,

                                                                                                                          Bro. Doug

Mission Moments:

NO WOM Report for this month.

What can I do?

If you are interested in helping in some way with the ministry at FBC, please see the pastor for ideas. We need more leadership to step-up. W e need people that will take their ministry seriously and complete the task they have been given. We need workers who will follow as well as leaders who will lead. Many people have great ideas, but a idea without commitment, faithfulness and a humble spirit remains an idea or burns others out by trying to do too much on too many things.

The only thing keeping you from serving the Lord is you. We have ample ways to serve. Just see the pastor asap.

FBC P.R.A.I.S.E. Report

I want to start off with much joy and excitement over everything God has been doing with the FBC p.r.a.i.s.e. Team! At first I must say that I was a bit disheartened by so few children showing up to participate...but what was I thinking? God has really blessed us! We were able to sign and sing "America the Beautiful" for the Veterans’ Day Service –and the children did an excellent job! Then, after Thanksgiving, they signed and sang the "Doxology." Once again, the children were outstanding!

We have also been working on the musical for Christmas. Initially, I was a little hesitant because we only had five children and needed at least eight for the parts in the play. Through much prayer and anticipation of what God is able to do, we had eighteen kids last week and thirteen kids this week! I have had to rewrite the play TWICE just to accommodate the number of children God has blessed us with! Praise the Lord!!!

I want to thank the youth who help out each week with practice and snack time. I also want to thank the parents who have so faithfully brought their children to practice. They have also been so helpful in bringing snacks for the kids.

The mission of the FBC p.r.a.i.s.e. Team is to use the gift of music and drama to bring people into the church (or other locations) to hear the FBC p.r.a.i.s.e. Team. Parents, family, and friends who do not know Jesus WILL come to see their child perform when they will not attend for any other reason. We are presently praying for those that God is going to send to the Christmas program on December 18, 2011, at 6:00 pm. We claim the victory in advance and give Him the glory for all He is about to do!

                                                                                                                                                       In His Service,

                                                                                                                                                             Morgan

From the Pastor:

When you know of a church member going into the hospital and need a visit or a prayer from the pastor or a deacon, please call the pastor or the church office.

I know that hospital visits and nursing home visits are a weakness of my ministry, so I am going to try to do better in this area. But I need family members’ help and your help to do my job better.

                                                                                                                                  Thanks,

                                                                                                                               Bro. Doug

The Church staff would like to take this opportunity to thank the church members for all they do, not only during the Christmas season but all year long. The Church could not function properly without the dedication of so many of our volunteers... from teachers, kitchen helpers, those serving on committees, those who decorate the church and to those who quietly come to help maintain the church buildings. It’s impossible to name each one but you are very important to the body of Christ and are very much appreciated. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Bro. Doug & the Church Staff

Constant News:

The last newsletter we were gearing up for the fall retreat and fall festival and as I type this one, it is SNOWING!! November 29th and we are out for a snow day. Speaking of the fall retreat, we had 6 people to go to Van Buren to hear Dylan’s band. They rock!! Dylan has so much talent and he represented FBC and God well. We were very proud and stood around like "groupies" because he was "with the band". The fall festival was a blast. The youth group all picked a station and manned it well. We had a great turn out as Sara and Dylan rode around town with a bullhorn announcing it to the kids in the neighborhood. They are so bold for the Lord. Many adults helped pull it together and I think all went well.

Last Sunday we had a group go to Wal Mart and Hays to ring the Salvation Army bell. Beth, Caroline, Jacob, and Dylan took the Wal Mart shifts, Emma, Carson, Hunter, and I stood outside of Hays. It was cold, windy, and rainy but it is such a great cause and this group of kids is going to make anything fun.

We have had a few volunteers to teach our lessons. Many times kids learn better from kids. They speak the language!! Beth, Emma, Lexi, and Carly have all stepped up and prepared a lesson to share and we all received a blessing. The seeds are being planted and I think this group knows that they HAVE to influence their friends in a positive way because the negative influence is always looming. Please keep praying for the youth in our church, in our community, and in our country. It would not be easy to be a teenager in 2011.

                                                                                                                                     Dana
