Mission Moments:

The Women On Mission had their December meeting at the home of Susan Pinkerton with 20 members present!!! We had a wonderful time of fellowship and fun. Peggy read the Christmas story and plans were made to attend the Easter Resurrection Celebration at Belleview Baptist this spring. We are all very excited about being able to get together and worship and fellowship together. Thanks to Pam Peeler and Marilyn Strawn for car pooling out to my house!!

Our January meeting will be at Peggy Boyd’s this Monday night the 9th at our new time of 6:30!! We will be planning an exciting new year!! I am very excited and ready to hit the ground running with praying, giving and going!! Our group of ladies is growing and I pray it continues to grow!!

Thank you to everyone who generously gave to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. I was relieved to find out I wasn’t going to be strung up if we didn’t meet our goal after talking to JoAnn...but we certainly came very close!! It is so important to the IMB and I’m sure in the years to come we will meet and exceed our goals. We have the most loving and giving group of people in our FBC family. You all are the best. I have realized that tremendously in just the few short months of being in this position. Please continue to pray, give, and go for missions.

Prayerfully,

Susan Pinkerton

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:24

FBC p.r.a.i.s.e. Report

WOW!!! What a month and how fast it passed!

The FBC p.r.a.i.s.e. Team has worked very hard during the month of December. It has been very exciting! As you may know, if you have been keeping up with us, we spent the entire month (with Wednesday night and extra practices) working on the musical for Christmas, "Sleepover in the Stable," God blessed us with an outstanding performance by the p.r.a.i.s.e. Team on Sunday, December 18, 2011. I believe these kids are the BEST kids I have EVER worked with. They were exceptional. They all went out of their way not only memorize their own parts, but also to help others on the "Team." (Learning lesson for us adults.)

I want to thank everyone who helped in making the program a success. Many of you (some I do not know personally) helped with moving furniture, bringing props and costumes, setting up the stage and taking it down, sewing, filling in when I was away, running the sound system and preparing food for the get-together afterwards. God knows who you are and I know you received a blessing for the work you did. Also many of the youth and parents helped out each week with practice and snack time. I also want to thank the parents who have so faithfully brought their children to practice each time. Grizzly Jigs and the Caruthersville School District helped provide costumes & props for our program and I thank them as well.

As I stated before, the mission of the FBC p.r.a.i.s.e. Team is to use the gift of music & drama to bring people into the church (or other locations) to hear the p.r.a.i.s.e. Team. Many parents, family, & friends who do not normally attend church came to see the children’s program. We prayed for those that God sent to the Christmas program, and many of the children were asking about them while they were waiting in the back. They were so excited that they were supported by family, friends & their church. I know each of you that came were blessed beyond measure! These children successfully planted a seed or seeds for the Kingdom of God on Dec. 18, 2011. Someone will water, we will pray and one day the harvest will be reaped.

As the 2012 New Year begins, we will begin on new songs to be signed & sung. We will also begin praying about the Easter program. God has truly blessed my life thought children. We can change the world by influencing these lives & by trusting God will work through them. Please continue to pray for the FBC p.r.a.i.s.e. Team. Thank you again for your support and Praise the Lord!

In His Service,

Morgan

What can I do?

If you are interested in helping in some way with the ministry at FBC, please see the pastor for ideas. We need more leadership to step-up. We need people that will take their ministry seriously and complete the task they have been given. We need workers who will follow as well as leaders who will lead. Many people have great ideas, but a idea without commitment, faithfulness and a humble spirit remains an idea or burns others out by trying to do too much on too many things.

The only thing keeping you from serving the Lord is you. We have ample ways to serve. Just see the pastor asap.

Extra T-Shirts We do have extra shirts!!! each FBC T-shirt & Beth Moore T-shirt for only $5.00 each.

From the Pastor:

When you know of a church member going into the hospital and need a visit or a prayer from the pastor or a deacon, please call the pastor or the church office.

I know that hospital visits and nursing home visits are a weakness of my ministry, so I am going to try to do better in this area. But I need family members’ help and your help to do my job better.

Thanks,

Bro. Doug

Constant News:

Upon arrival of 2012, we have a chance to both reflect on the past year AND look ahead to new things to come. As I look back, I see a few things that would help our Youth group grow. I would like to see more of our group invite other teenagers. I would like to do some inviting myself. There is a huge need in our community for a safe place to go and spend time with other kids and our church is a wonderful place to do just that. In both reflecting and looking ahead, we can all work on these issues. When we get the kids here, we have to offer activities as well as worship to KEEP them coming. I would so appreciate any ideas that you have in this area. I am willing to do anything with them (almost) so please get any ideas you have to me.

We did a few fun things in December. We loaded up the van on a cold and rainy night and went to see the "Lights of the Delta". They were beautiful, as always. We had about 10 kids to go. At our Christmas party we cooked a Mexican feast. "Why"? You might ask...we don’t know. It sounded good at the time and everyone loved it. After the fiesta, we played "Dirty Santa" with the gifts that ALL 15 kids brought. The hit of the night was the sock monkey that everyone kept stealing away. We ended the night with some games and we had a great time.

January 8th, we have planned a 50's Day for the church. We decorated in 50's style decor and are planning a good ole burger, fries, and milkshake meal after church that day. It will only cost $5.00 and the kids will serve you. They will be dressed as car hops and they are very excited. Please bring any pictures that you have and we will decorate the walls with the past. The pictures can be of a different era, just old pictures. Please put your name on the back and we will return them.

Thanks so much for allowing me to serve God and be with the Youth of our church. Please e-mail, call, or just tell me if you have any ideas of fun things to do.

Dana
