Bro. Don Says:

THANKS, for allowing me to serve as your Pulpit Supply Minister for the last six months. I hope that I was of some help to you. The time between Pastors, is sometimes confusing & even overwhelming, but we were able to renew our faith & trust in our Great GOD. Through faith & trust in Jesus, we can claim victory from our God who is the God of Love, Comfort, & Consolation.

I have tried to share my peace of knowing Jesus Christ as Saviour & Lord, as I told you the greatest Stories ever told. I hope that we have forged some friendships that will last forever, at least they will from my standpoint. Best wishes to you & your new Pastor as you move on to a closer walk with God. I look forward to hearing that great things are happening at 1st Baptist, and I will be checking in from time to time.

We have endured some challenging but yet exciting times. We have learned to laugh, when there was not much to laugh about. I even heard a few AMENS, so keep that up.

Your Friend Forever,

Bro. Don Layman

P.S. T H A N K S A G A I N !

Welcome Jimmy and Susan Lemonds

Our new pastor, Jimmy Lemonds, was born in Belleville, Illinois, on April 7, 1966. His father, as well as his uncle, were Southern Baptist preachers. In 1974, at the age of eight, Jimmy accepted the Lord, but it wasn’t until 1998 that the Lord called him to preach. He enrolled in the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City and graduated in 2004 with an Associate of Divinity degree. Since then he has pastored churches in Illinois, Arkansas, and Missouri. His last church was at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Piedmont, where he was a bi-vocational pastor and truck driver. His mother, Gladys, lives in the White Oak area.

Susan Sisk Lemonds is well-acquainted with Caruthersville since her grandparents, the Durhams, were long-time residents, and her parents are Charles and Bunny Sisk. She has been married to Jimmy for 28 years, and they have two sons - Grant, 25 and Austin, 23. Susan is employed by United Health Care Service and audits their hospital accounts from home.

FBC Worship Team

We are just starting to work on our Easter selection, "Risen Redemption", which will be incorporated into our Easter Sunday morning worship service. It’s our prayer that this will be a blessing and will open up your hearts to the powerful message that will be presented that morning. Be sure to bring the whole family as we celebrate the passion and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Also, please pray about joining our choir for this special presentation. We could definitely use some more voices. If you would like to join us, even if only for the Easter service, just come to choir rehearsal every Wednesday after church. We would love to have you! Singing His Praises, Phil

Extreme Arts :

Extreme Arts rehearses every Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM. If you would like to be a part, we always have openings. If you would like to help in anyway, please let me know. We always need help with things like the set, lights, props, coaching, etc.

Tuesday Night Bible Club: We are doing a study of the 5 Books of Moses, the Pentateuch, beginning with Genesis. We meet every Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the fellowship hall. If you like a topical approach to Bible study with a more in-depth and thought provoking format, then this is the Bible study group for you. There’s just something about God’s people meeting together and studying the Word of God that brings a closeness to God and each other. Come and join us this Tuesday!

Help Needed:

If you are interested in learning to run sound and multi-media for our evening services, please let me know. I will be offering another training course soon. This is a much needed ministry at our church. Please pray about joining the audio-visual team this year.

Phil

Women On Mission:

WOM will start back up after winter break on March 13, at 6:30 pm. Please make plans to attend. Hopefully you are preparing your box a month for the Samaritan purse. We will be doing Easter baskets again this year for the foster children in our county. I will be getting a total shortly of how many baskets we will need and will be putting out in the fellowship hall, items we have been collecting this year, to help you fill your basket..if you are doing pennies through the year for Lottie Moon, you should have $17.25 in your jar by the end of February.

We want to give Bro. Don a much deserved Thank you for his messages he has shared with us over the past 6 months, we will miss him and we very much appreciate him and a big welcome to Bro. Jimmy and Ms. Susan as they begin their ministry here at FBC...

Youth News:

Happy March! Easter is approaching fast, so we will begin our cross ministry soon. Starting the first Sunday in March, we will have the order forms out Starting March 4th. We will sell for 3 weeks. They will be left out in the yards for 2 weeks, then picked up & put in the church yard for 1 week. This serves as a great witnessing tool to help you tell someone about what Jesus has done for you this Easter. Once the order forms are out, you can give them to me or Pam Bullington, or turn them in to the office. As always, thank you for your support.

Friday, February 24th, we are going to The Rock in Worship Roadshow in Cape Girardeau, to worship with many awesome bands. The youth will need money for admission ($10.00 at the door), and for something to eat on the way home. It will be a late night because the concert will not be over until about 10 pm.

We have made our deposit for church camp and we have a total of 15 going this year. That’s 12 youth and 3 adults. It will be a little different for us because we are going to do the weekend camp. They pack almost a whole week of camp into 40 hours. So, we will be getting very little sleep and I’m super excited about it!!

Please continue to pray for us as we move forward in our ministry.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs

House & Grounds would like to thank everyone that came out to help work on the parsonage, some of you put in some long hours and a lot of hard work. I think everyone enjoyed the work they did and we even had some laughs. This group was brought closer together and God must have been with us because everything turned out great, I think. A special thanks to Pam Peeler, if you want a project to get going, turn it over to Pam, she will crack the whip! Just ask Denny, we escaped with only two minor injuries from all the hours we put in. Our motto on this project from Pam was, "Be joyful while you work", we kept hearing that after every groan. We also wish to thank some people for the generous donations toward replacing the old aluminum windows and for new flooring in the kitchen & dining rooms. Everything looks great - stop by and look!
