Notes From Bro. Doug:

We had a great month in April at FBC. The Good Friday service was a great time in the Lord. Bro. Chad preached a great sermon. Easter was awesome with one of the biggest crowds we have had in a long time.

We had a baptismal service in April and that always is a great thing to see. Hopefully, we can see more of that in the future.

We had a successful Vacation Bible School meeting. Most of the jobs are filled but we still need support staff. There is no better time spent for the Lord than at VBS.

We had 9 to take the class on how to Share Jesus Without Fear. It was a great day of hearing from the Lord and learning how to share Jesus with others.

Salvation Sunday was a great day too. There were no responses but maybe a seed was planted. That day is a great time to bring someone who needs to hear about Jesus. It is my prayer that you take advantage of it more. It is the Sunday morning service on every 5th Sunday. Our Praise and Worship Team "Common Ground" did a wonderful job too. I love and support this group 100%. I keep getting more and more comments for ALL ages that they appreciate the group and their ministry, and many are saying they love the contemporary style of music. I do acknowledge there are some that it might take awhile to get used to it, but it is going in the right direction. Common Ground will be singing and leading worship the last Sunday of every month. We have been given an almost Brand New drum set for the group to use, thanks for the anonymous donation.

May is going to be great too. We have Senior Graduation Day this Sunday. Bro. Steve Babcock from the Humboldt First Baptist Church in Humboldt, TN will be speaking about the mission trip that our graduate, Emma Fitzwater will be going on.

Emma Fitzwater is the recipient of the J.F. "Pat" & Mary Belle Patterson $500.00 scholarship. She has been a great influence and ministry help here at FBC.

On Mother’s Day May 13th, we will be honoring our mothers but also we will be dedicating Andrew Cunningham to the Lord on that day. This should be a great service!!!

Everyone is invited to the Alex Morgan and Whitney Cannon wedding on May 19th. They will rehearse on Friday May 18th.

May 20th is our annual Memorial Day Offering. This offering is split four ways between Spiritual Development, Vacation Bible School, Roof repair and the Youth Dept. our goal this year is $5,000.00. The committee has set up a memorial/honorarium form for you to use, the donation for each person is $20.00. A wonderful roast beef meal will be provided to everyone after the morning worship service. The brotherhood department is donating the meat and you will have the opportunity to sign up to bring the sides and the desserts. Bro. Gary Nolen will lead us in a song fest at 1:00 pm after the noon meal.

We will have a special Memorial Day service on Sunday May 27th. Bro. Frank Morgan will have the flags out and you need to be prepared to say who we need to remember. If not too many of our kids go out of town, our kids P.R.A.I.S.E. group will be singing.

Great things are happening slowly but surely at FBC. Come join this unified band of believers.

In Christ,

Bro. Doug

A Mother’s Love

There are times when only a mother’s love

can understand our tears,

can soothe our disappointments

and calm all of our fears.

There are times when only a mother’s love

can share the joy we feel

when something we’ve dreamed about

quite suddenly is real.

There are times when only a mother’s faith

can help us on life’s way

and inspire in us the confidence

we need from day to day.

For a mother’s heart and a mother’s faith

and a mother’s steadfast love

were fashioned by the angels

and sent from God above.
