FBC Worship Choir

The choir is working on our Christmas musical, "He Is Here", which will be presented during our morning worship service, possibly on December 20th. This date may change. We could use your help! If you would like to be a part of our Christmas presentation, please come to the next choir rehearsal, which is every Wednesday night after church. I have plenty of practice CD’s and books available. Hopefully, I will have a little more information in next month’s newsletter. Please continue to pray for our choir and our church and pray as to whether God wants you to be a part of this wonderful ministry. Remember: God gave you talent for a reason and that is to use it for His glory!

Singing His Praises,

Phil

Extreme Arts & FBC Worship Choir:

Extreme Arts is back and in full force!! I am so excited about what God is doing in our little ministry. We are preparing to go to our annual Boot Camp on September 16th at Theresa Jean’s cabin in Reelfoot. Thanks again to such a wonderful woman for allowing us to use your cabin for this special occasion. You are truly a blessing to us! One of the things we will be working on at this workshop is our Christmas musical. This year, the group will present a full musical for Christmas. If you haven’t heard yet, we are going to present, Charles Shultz’s "A Charlie Brown Christmas"! It is my hope that this will be a fun and encouraging evening for us all as we remember the true meaning of Christmas through the eyes of the Peanuts Gang. Be sure to bring your children and grandchildren to his special night, which will be December 20th at 6:00 p.m.

We have lots of work to do and we appreciate so much all the support you show for us. Parents, you should have received permission forms, "what to bring" lists and a copy of the house rules your students will be expected to follow during our boot camp. We will meet at the church at 5:00 p.m., leave around 6:00 p.m. and return the next night, the 17th, at as close to 9:00 p.m. as possible. We can bring your student directly home to you, if that would make things easier for you, instead of you having to get out at 9:00 p.m. to pick them up.

As I said, I am so excited about this year’s group and projects. I hope you will be there with us along the way!

Love Ya’ll

Phil

Youth News:

Hello everyone! We started August off with helping the Back to School Bash. The youth played a HUGE part in everything from set-up, working the games and clean-up. Their servant hearts were big that day.

On August 13th, we had our Back to School swim party at Karen & Wayne Smith’s house. We ate hot dogs, chips and smores in the beautiful back yard. We thank them again for hosting us.

On August 14th, the Mercer’s hosted us at their house for our youth fellowship. They fed us pizza, rotel and brownies! We had our lesson, then the kids challenged the adults to a game of Buzzword. The adults won. We had so much fun and thank them for their willingness for opening their home to us.

August 26th, was our first 5th quarter of the year. We did have it even though the game was canceled. We still had a great turn-out, even with all the rain. We had a total of 25 there. We had a taco bar, very fun and messy games and lots of music. We ended the night with Bro. Jim Tom Pilcher delivering a message. It was an awesome night! 5th quarters are a great outreach program to try and reach kids that may not have a church home, but also give them something to do after our home games. Thank you to our youth committee for sponsoring and working so hard at these.

Upcoming dates: September 2nd and 23rd are our next 5th quarter dates. We have guest speakers for both nights. So spread the word and anyone that would be willing to help, come join us.

Please continue to pray for us as we do outreach and for all of our upcoming activities.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs

Women On Mission:

What a successful Ice Cream Social. All proceeds go to our annual Lottie Moon Offering. If you missed the Social you missed out on some very good ice cream, cookies and dessert. Our Nativity has made it safely and is absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait for it to grace our lawn this Christmas season. I do believe you will be greatly pleased with the beauty of it and the story it will tell to the public. Thank you for your donations to this WOM project. Our next item of interest will be banners for the Sanctuary, to be displayed during the Christmas season. The ones I have looked at are beautiful.

Cookies for 911 are due by the 8th of September. If you need me to pick yours up, just call me or the church office. This act of expressing our thanks is always appreciated by the local law enforcement, fire department and Medic One. We also deliver to Hayti law enforcement and fire dept.

WOM will meet on September 12th, at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall. Don’t forget to be purchasing items for the Samaritan boxes: pencils, small color packs, combs, toothbrushes, etc. you can get your box in the foyer between the sanctuary and kitchen, along with girl and boy stickers.

Let’s all be in prayer for our church as we go through the process of filling the pulpit with a full time pastor. Also, pray for the pulpit committee, as they go about the process of finding the pastor to fill the pulpit of First Baptist Church.

The people around you aren’t problems to be solved, they’re people to be loved. Jesus didn’t tell us to solve or fix people around us. He told us to love them.

Pam & Christy
