Notes From Bro. Doug:

God is truly blessing at FBC. We have come out of the summer with many great things happening and with many people excited about what is coming in the future. We are a family and thanks for sticking together and for supporting each other as we grow at FBC.
Please pray and pray again for the three men you will nominate for the deacon body on Sept. 8th. We need more men who are faithful and committed to the church and to supporting the church and the ministry. We need servants, not board members. We need more men who are progressive and vision minded thinkers who will continue to keep the church going in the right direction. We are so blessed with a unified deacon body and we need men who will keep that unity and help keep unity in the church and serve the people without being asked. Read 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
New teachers and committees start Sunday Sept. 1st. Huge thanks goes to all who served faithfully last year and I know God will bless you. For those who are new or continuing this year, please make a commitment to make the Lord and His church a priority!!!

A big blessing and thanks goes to our summer intern Emma Fitzwater. She was very helpful to the FBC ministry this summer and I believe we helped her grow in her faith and in her call from the Lord. The church was very generous in giving to her love offering and gift card tree. Emma has already expressed interest in being an intern next summer and I am planning things for her to accomplish already. It is so wonderful to have volunteers like Emma to keep things going here at FBC.
Dr. Doug Fitzwater’s free DR. Clinic is going every month in the children’s building. He is there with volunteers from the church every 2nd Saturday of the month. This is a great ministry of Dr. Doug’s and the church is honored to give him the facility to perform this great need in our community. The next clinic is Sept. 14th 9am-noon. Deacon election will be Sept. 22nd.
Our Women on Mission group is gearing up for the Lottie Moon International Mission Christmas mission emphasis. They recently gave Pam Peeler an opportunity at their monthly meeting to talk about her Ukraine mission trip. Hopefully Pam can tell the whole church about her trip soon. The WOM will be sponsoring a fund raiser for the LM Christmas offering on Sept. 8th with an "Ice Cream Social" and all donations will go to the LM Christmas Offering. This will be preceded by a presentation by Laura Boyd talking about her stay and ministry in Bangladesh. They will also have a fund raiser on Sept 29th with a noon soup luncheon with all funds going to the LM Offering. THANKS LADIES FOR LEADING THE 911 COOKIE DROP!!!
The associational annual meeting is Sept. 9th-10th. All of our representatives voted in by the church are welcome to attend and vote. All other church members are invited to attend too.
A VERY IMPORTANT worship service will happen on Sept. 22nd at 6:00pm in the sanctuary. Pastor James Roy from Bangladesh will be our guest speaker. Please support this great event and I want all age groups to be present. He will tell us about what God is doing through his ministry in Bangladesh. We will be taking up a love offering for his ministry.
We will be starting the "My Hope America" emphasis in September. This is sponsored by the Billy Graham ministry. We will be showing some introductory clips during our morning worship services. Be praying about the possibility of having a party in your home in November where you and others invite the lost to this party and then a gospel presentation will be presented. More information to come!!! But be praying now!!! This will tie into our Revival with David Ring in November.

Business Meeting and Potluck
We will be trying again to have a potluck meal at 6pm prior to every business meeting each month. If enough attend and support the meal and help set-up and help clean-up we will continue the meal each month. Please bring a main meat dish a side dish and/or a dessert. If you can’’t bring food then bring a donation to help the meal ministry fund pay for extra food that is prepared, such as the salad bar.
Annual Church Picnic
The annual church picnic will be Sunday Sept. 15th from 5:00pm-8:00pm at England Park. The church will provide the fried chicken and bread and you are asked to bring the side dishes, desserts, your favorite beverage, a chair and games to play. The church will have their bouncer set up.
S.O.U.P. Group
Calling all Senior Adults!!! We will be going to the Assoc. Senior Adult Fellowship on Thursday Sept. 19th at FBC Portageville. The church van and cars will leave at 10:30am from the church. Lunch is provided.
Sunday September 22nd is the day that no excuse will be accepted for being absent in Sunday School or Morning or Evening worship. Our goal is to have 125 present in Sunday School and 200 present in morning worship and 125 present in the evening worship. Please make this day a day of faithfulness to the Lord, maybe even catch up on your tithes on that day. God wants to open the floods of blessings on life and family, so open the flood of commitment and faithfulness from your love for the Lord…… EVERYDAY……but especially Sept. 22nd.

Feeding the Football Team and Cheerleaders
We have been asked to feed the team again. We will do this on Sept. 27th at 4:00pm. If you want to help or buy some of the food, see Bro. Doug ASAP.

Youth Report:

Our month has been very busy. Getting ready to go back to school and some going off to college, what an exciting time in our youth’s lives.

We would like to welcome Tatum Riggs and Christian Dudley to our youth group. Our group is growing and I know God is walking with these young adults all of the time. I can see the spiritual growth in many of my youth.

We had a send off get together for Sara going off to SEMO. We had pizza and good fellowship. We want to wish Dylan good luck on his Senior year and his college classes at Dyersburg. Words of advice to both of you DON’T SPEED AND DO WEAR YOUR SEAT BELTS!!! Of course this is good advice for everyone! LOL

A big shout out THANK YOU to Wayne and Karen Smith for allowing the youth group to swim at their home. The backyard is so beautiful. It makes you think, just for a tiny second that you’re not in Caruthersville. LOL The major praise was that everyone enjoyed the evening. We roasted hotdogs on

hangers and skewers. We made smores and I wish I had smore (some more) LOL! We got rained on a little but most were already wet anyway.

In talking with the kids many have gone to visit or have relatives visiting them throughout the month. It was good to hear the stories about what they did and have done this summer.

The youth went to see Rapture Ruckus at the Impact Center and I was told it was AWESOME!! A big THANK YOU to Pam Bullington for driving the van and taking care of everything while we moved Sara to Cape.

Our class is in the process of learning what being of the Baptist Faith is all about. I believe that there are many people young and old that don’t have any idea what their faith should be based on. I think it’s important to know what being Baptist is about and we are going to learn and help teach others over the next several weeks what our beliefs are. This is going to be cool to learn and very educational to all.

We love the Lord and our youth. I am so happy that the majority of my youth have committed their lives to Christ and know they are going to heaven. I know that we have some that are close to making the most important decision in their lives and we are ready and waiting with open arms just like GOD does for us all of the time.

Keep praying for us and get ready for an upcoming Pizza fundraiser where the proceeds from this sale will go to the Lottie Moon fund. So start getting your orders ready. Just think about those cool fall evenings when you can come home, put the pizza in the warm and cozy oven and then leave the oven open to get warm after the pizza gets done!! WOW what a picture!!

**Warning to readers do not type newsletters when you are hungry! LOL! We love ya’ll, until next time. Pray for us and our youth!

P.S. Don’t forget to go and watch our own Tyler Grissom (quarterback) and our other Tiger football players this season. Also, we can’t forget Beth Prater leading the Tiger Marching Band at every game. We have so many talented youth. Pray for good health, good sportsmanship and a successful season. GO TIGERS!!

It’s not too late to be a part of what God is doing in this amazing group of people! If you would like to be a part of the choir, get with Bro. Doug or me...we will definitely be able to use you!

Music Notes:

2nd Annual Kevin McCoy
Memorial Music Workshop

The music workshop will be on September 7th, from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, followed by a concert at 6:00 pm. If you would like to attend the workshop, but not minister in the concert, the workshop will end at 4:00 pm. The time from 4- 5:30 pm is just for us to put the finishing touches on what we will be doing in the concert. It will be a lot different than last years’, as there will be numerous classes going on at the same time throughout the day. Jim Clark will be here to help us with the workshop along with Bro. Doug and myself. If you are a part of the adult choir, youth choir, Common Ground, or even if you sing solos in the church, then you need to be a part of this workshop. This is also open to anyone interested in leading worship or doing music ministry in the future. Classes will include: basic music theory, large/small group singing, playing with a group, soloist workshop, traditional worship leading, contemporary worship leading, Biblical worship, and elements of worship. Breakfast and lunch will be provided! There will be a $5.00 fee to help out with such things as food and supplies. The workshop will be open to all churches in our association, as well as other churches in the community. The workshop will be followed by a Praise and Worship concert at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary for any who want to attend! No fee for the concert, but a love offering will be taken with all proceeds to go into the music ministry fund. If you will be a part of this, there will be sign-up sheets located in the fellowship hall, the bulletin board outside the sanctuary and in the choir room. If you go to a different church and would like your youth choir, adult choir, worship team or just have people in your congregation that would like to attend, please call me at 573-724-1876 or you can call the church at 573-333-1631 to let us know how many will be in your group. Please sign up early so we can get an idea of how many we will need to feed and supply with materials. The deadline to sign up is Sunday, September 1st!

P.R.A.I.S.E. Report:

All the kids in FBC P.R.A.I.S.E. Team have gone back to school! That means vacations are almost all over and it will soon be time to get down to business!
We have had fun this month trying to fill in our class time with a little fun, along with learning about our Lord. A couple of weeks ago, we had Sunday Sundaes--a make your own buffet! The kids did a great job NOT getting too messy. We enjoyed the chocolate and vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, trail mix, marshmallows, bananas, and every kind of syrup you could think of. NOTE: NEVER GIVE A KID A CAN OF WHIPPING CREAM……LOL It has the tendency to go EVERYWHERE!
Last week, we all took a walk to the Mississippi River and explored the leaves, bark, flowers, etc., on the trees. We talked about the names of the trees; and on the way back, the kids actually remembered them! God is awesome……I just love all his wondrous works!
Last night, we decided on the musical for our CHRISTMAS PROGRAM!!! The material will be in to begin practice next week! So, summer has officially ended for the FBC P.R.A.I.S.E. Team!
Pray for us as we begin our new presentation.
