A Word From Your Pastor:

Hey Church Summer is almost over! Football season is gearing up and getting started. Cooler temps are coming I hope and the church picnic will be here before you know it. Summer is a great time but these oppressive temps are pretty tough and I look forward to those cool mornings and the changing of the seasons promised by our King in His Word.

September has a few events that the church has planned and I pray you plug in whenever you can. Associational meeting is coming up and I hope we can come out and show our support for this evening on the 10th. We are hosting this event this year so please try to attend. We get to again this year show our support for the TIGERS by feeding them on the 14th before their game with Kennett. Then our annual picnic in the park on the 30th. This is a must attend as Shawn and I defend our year long TITLE of the Horseshoe Trophy. I hope you can attend all of our events this month!

Live for Jesus every second of the day and invite someone to join you at church, we would double in size this month. Have a great September!!

In Christ,

Your Pastor

Dear Church Family,

We want to express our heartfelt appreciation for all the prayers, support, cards, food and all the other ways in which you have cared for us so well.

EXTREME ARTS:

I’m very excited about the 2018-2019 season, and I hope you are too. We’ll be working on 2 Extreme: The Musical, which we’ll present on November 11th (the 6th anniversary of the original production), and we’ll be inviting the original cast back to see the new version. Also, we’ll be gearing up for our Fall Retreat which will happen September 7 - 8 at Reelfoot. Our theme this year will be, "Walk the Talk". T-shirts are $10 and I’ll need the money for those by September 7th.

Thank you so much for the nice meal and warm welcome after mama’s funeral. She loved and missed her long-time church family. I really appreciate the love she received there over the years (since 1927).

Love in Christ,

Peggy Turnbow Rogers

Women On Mission

As the summer winds to an end WOM is gearing up for the holidays. It will be here before you know it. We are having our Merry Mart this year and hope to have a great turn out for this event. It will be scheduled on the Saturday of the Christmas parade. We have several items already and will start pricing and getting them ready in the near future. With that being said, if you have any gently used Christmas items or household items that you are wanting to be rid of, please donate them to the Merry Mart. All proceeds go to the Lottie Moon offering. If you would like for me to pick them up just let me know.

The scarves the youth pass out at the parade are coming along nicely. We have around 200 ready to go and hope to have 100 or more ready by parade time.

One of the new Harvest banners that grace the sides of the baptistry was given by the WOM and the other was donated by Christy Mercer, in loving memory of her dear friend, Ken Cope. We would like to have a couple more banners and if you would like to donate towards this, make sure you mark it donation for banners.

Samaritan boxes will be due in November, i hope you are working on getting yours ready. We have boxes available in the foyer by the fellowship hall.

We will be doing cookies for our law enforcement on 9/11. Please let me know what you can bring.

Our next meeting after summer break will be September 10, at 6:30 pm and we will put the cookie trays together that night. Our law enforcement are always appreciative of this gesture of appreciation.

YOUTH NEWS

Hello Everyone! School is back in full swing and our attendance is back up. We had 4 new youth members move up, so that was very exciting.

We had a lock-in on August 10th to discuss doing a judgement house this year. After much discussion, it was decided that we will wait until next year. This will be a huge undertaking and will need lots of help from the members of the church. At this lock-in, we had lots of games and we did our annual talent show. This year’s winner was Samantha Barksdale. We got a little bit of sleep. We had breakfast then went to our Back to School swim party at the beautiful home of Wayne and Karen Smith. We appreciate them every year for opening up their pool to us.

We are fundraising right now. We will continue to do so until September 2nd. We are doing 2 different fundraiser at the same time, so there are a lot of options. One thing we are fundraising for is a trip to the Xtreme Youth Conference in Branson, MO. The dates are December 27 - 29. The kids will be on Christmas break so we don’t have to worry about them missing school. This is a 3 day-two night Xtreme experience, packed with live concerts, life changing messages and uplifting worship from some of the big names in Christian music today. We are very excited

about this opportunity and we appreciate everyone supporting us during our different fundraisers. The second thing we are also fundraising for is camp. I have reserved our spot for next year already. We will be attending camp June 8-12th.

On September 22nd, we will be doing another Senior Adult lunch delivery. The kids need to be at the church by 9 am. We should be done around 1 pm. As soon as we get our menu tegether I will let everyone know.

Please continue to pray for us as we grow the youth group in numbers and in their walk Jesus Christ.

.

God Bless,

Kristy Riggs
