First Baptist Church Caruthersville

Our pastor has been in the ministry of our Lord, Jesus for over 20 years now. Jimmy ran from God for years before Jesus turned him around and began a good work in him. Jimmy graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary located in Kansas City, Mo in 2004. He has pastored 4 churches before coming here to Caruthersville to begin the work that Jesus has called him to do. Jimmy is married to susan for 30 years, and they have two grown boys, Grant - 27 and Austin - 25.  Jimmy comes from a large family of 6 siblings. His father was also a preacher of the Word before passing away in 1971. His mother is still alive at the age of 89 and lives in Kennett, Mo.

Bro. Jimmy says, "My goal in life is to promote the Gospel message every day of my life. I pray for our church constantly hoping we serve the King at all times. I pray we grow spiritually in every age group presented in our church so that we can grow numerically. Numbers are cool to have, but I would rather have true believers in Christ Jesus sitting in every pew, sold out for Jesus. I pray for our future as a church and also our future individually as we grow in knowledge and truth."

I became a Christian when I was 14 years old, and I surrendered my life to ministry when I was 16.  I was licensed into the ministry by Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church in 1992, and was ordained by a Non-Denominational organization in October of 2009.  I began serving here as the full-time Minister of Music in December 2012.  I am a graduate of Caruthersville High School, here in Caruthersville, Mo, and attended college at Valley Forge Christian in Phoenixville, Pa as a double major in music education and youth ministry until May of 1995.  

My vision for the music ministry of our church is to create an atmosphere of worship using a blend of traditional hymns, contemporary praise, and classic spiritual songs of the church that will allow people of all ages to enter in and truly worship the Lord.  I believe the songs, whether congregational, choir anthems, or solos must be scripturally sound and give all glory and honor to our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Another part of my vision for my ministry here at FBC Caruthersville is to give others an opportunity to minister to the body of Christ and our community through music and the arts.  This is the driving force behind the worship choir and youth fine arts team, Extreme Arts.
